Sammon Joins Rotherham
Thursday, 15th Jan 2015 15:09

Rotherham United have confirmed the signing of former Blues loanee Conor Sammon on loan from Derby for the rest of the season.

Yesterday, Blues boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that the 28-year-old Ireland international had left Portman Road with his spell, which had been due to last until the end of the season, having been cut short.

Sammon scored one goal in eight starts and 12 sub appearances for the Blues.

McCarthy has confirmed that he is now looking for an additional striker, although with no one currently lined-up to come in.

Elsewhere, former Town keeper Scott Loach has joined League One Peterborough United on a one-month loan from Rotherham.

Always gave his best, but just lacked a bit of a cutting edge in front of goal. All the best Connor!
Hopefully losing him will prompt ME/ Mick to bring in an Ashley Barnes/ Marcus Stewart type signing to help us for the final promotion push

Just a thought: interesting to see that Rotherham prefer Sammon to Taylor.

If we did happen to have a suspension or injury up front,it would leave us very light.
Here's hoping Mick has a quality replacement lined up.
Why not go for an ambitious lower league player such as Tom pope at port vale, knows where the net is and wouldn't cost too much.

Surely Mick will now get reinforcements,as his boss must realise that we will never get to the promised land;and repayment of his investment otherwise.
Like quite a few on here would like to see Jonny Williams back, who I understand wasn't in Palaces 18 the other day.
With FFP being relaxed in the future and the penalties rather token surely could afford to splash out on 1 decent player instead of 3 or 4 castoffs for nothing from other clubs either on loan or free.I know Mick has picked up several 'frees' as well as free agents like Bru Banjer and Ambrose;but surely you cant expect him to gain promotion solely with these types of players plus the odd youngster.
Marcus Evans has stopped selling his best assets and now is the time to invest in one to strengthen this small squad and give the club a better chance of competing with the clubs around us who seem able to spend without sanctions.Other additions if considered necessary could be acquired by loans etc.

Be careful what you wish for TR11BLU it's worth remembering that his only goal for us was against his former club

Thats nine players off the books next only taylor to go and only noel hunt added so must be a spare million in the account for some quality additions.plus the money from the cup games and half season ticket sales. Could make a profit at this rate. ...

You would have thought that Rotherham would think twice before taking another one of our cast offs.
