Kenny Set to Join Town
Saturday, 17th Jan 2015 22:21

Former Leeds, Sheffield United and Ireland keeper Paddy Kenny is set to join the Blues on loan from Bolton Wanderers, TWTD understands.

Earlier this evening manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that a deal had been agreed regarding a new keeper to come in as cover while Dean Gerken is out with a hip injury which is expected to sideline him for around a month.

Halifax-born Kenny, 36, started his career with Bradford Park Avenue, moving on to Bury and Whitby Town (loan) before he joined the Blades, initially on loan in 2002.

After eight years at Bramall Lane Kenny joined QPR and Leeds before joining Bolton, for whom he is yet to make an appearance, last summer.

In November the seven-times-capped Republic of Ireland international joined Oldham on loan, where he made four starts in a spell which ended earlier this month.

Meanwhile, we understand Balint Bajner’s switch to League One Notts County, which could be a permanent move rather than a loan, is set to be confirmed early next week.

Norwich being linked with an Alex Kiwomya who is apprently Chris Kiwomyas nephew, on loan @ Barnsley from Chelsea ATM. Anyone know anything about him, surely a loan at tbe town would suit better?

Some of the comments on here are similar to those when Noel Hunt's arrival in November was first suggested-look how that has turned out.
It may be harsh on Crowe but MM(and presumably Webster) obviously does not think he is yet ready for Championship football so an experienced back up keeper is needed.
We cannot afford to risk the possibility of a young keeper "freezing" and costing us points as I remember James Pullen doing a number of years ago.

Not a fan of Paddy Kenny but its understandable getting in experienced cover for a promotion push.

My comment earlier is due to the way he treated the ITFC fans when he was with Sheffield, his conviction for biting some guys ear off in a club brawl, he is/was a big fan of Charlie and finally in the last 2 clubs he has played at he has upset the dressing room. I am the first person to give someone a chance but don't have a good feeling about this. In Mick we trust! COYB

I am no big fan of Kenny but just to put the record straight;....

He didn't bite someone's ear off. His ex-mate bit Kenny's eye brow off during a brawl in Halifax where this so called mate taunted Kenny after having had a affair with Kenny's wife.

His 'drugs bust' came when he was tested positive for ephedrine, a banned substance. The FA could have banned him for 2 years but reduced it to 9 months because of the mitigating circumstances as it was believed to have been contained in a cough medicine and not taken to deliberately enhance his performance.

I understand if you dislike someone but please lay off the slander until you do a bit of research.

After all he is only here for a month, he has gained two promotions from this division, and will provide adequate cover. (although he did concede 7 goals when Oldham lost to MK dons.)

dont know why all the negative comments are being made,he is only coming in as cover. Not being disrespectful to Paddy, but hopefully, and chances are he wont even get a game.So many people come on here deluded into thinking their judgement or assessments of players are better or more informed than Micks.

What are some people on here crying about? We are 2nd in the league - get a reality check
I never thought I would see Paddy Kenny sign for Town but he has always been decent keeper & a colourful character in the game - one of those keepers we all loved to hate, probably because he was decent for the opposition.

This would be a great signing and to me almost good enough to go straight in.

Not so sure about Bart man----missed a straightforward punch on Sat and we could easily have been 1-0 down.

Not the first time either so this would be really good.
