Murphy Interesting Hull
Friday, 23rd Jan 2015 11:31

Hull City are reported to be showing interest in Town’s Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy.

The Premier League side have lost both Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic to injury and, according to the Irish Independent, view 31-year-old Murphy, who has scored 18 goals so far this season, as a potential replacement.

Manager Mick McCarthy has repeatedly said that he doesn’t expect anyone to be sold during the January transfer window unless the club receives an “astronomical” offer.

Ireland international Murphy signed a new contract until the summer of 2016 with an option for a further season in July and is understood to have already begun talks regarding the extension of that deal.

Cant see any truth in this silly for both parties if he does leave, only a short term replacement for the injured strikers. Better to stay with us playing every game and being the main man in our promotion push!

He won't leave and we wouldn't accept the offer. End of story.

Can't see that happening one bit. The reason Murph was desperate to stay here is because his family are settled in the area so why would he move up to Hull? They have as much chance of being Premier League next year as we do.

Murphy will not be leaving - another speculative tale!

Murphy is in the form of his career and I'm not surprised that Hull are looking at him.

He has been terrific so far this season, but before that he was just an average championship striker.

I can't see Steve Bruce paying an "astronomical" fee for a 31 year old striker who has only really had one exceptional half season in his career.

And I also don't think Murph would leave. He's been in the Premiership before and didn't succeed. He knows he's the main man at Ipswich and is loved by the fans/players/management.

Unless they offer him a bucketload of cash and Hull offer Marcus Evans £10m+ then I can't see it.

Hull are desperate for a goalscorer. Think if they offered £5m+ I'd sell, as Murphy won't feature for us in the Prem bar the odd sub appearance should we go up

Currently negotiating a new contract and now interest shown by a club? Convenient! ;)

If the price is right sell

31 year old, probably got 4 years left in his legs, probably worth about 4 million due to being a one season wonder. Cannot see Murphy refusing a move, doubling or trebling his wages, houses cheaper, even to sit on the bench. No brainer 2 year contract and he will be better off. So don't think that Murphy would say no

Walk the wark. Murphy would play most of our games in the premier league. He offers a lot more then just goals. Wins 9/10 flick ons. One of the best hold ups of the ball we've seen in the past 5 years at the club.

Well hull or anyone else can P155 right off..we'd be utterly utterly mad to sell Murphy for any price at the moment.

Stay put Daryl where you are worshipped.

Wouldn't have thought Hull would have a spare £30m. They might prove us wrong though.

I hope we keep our better players, but if we are going to sell, then we need to ensure a permanent replacement is brought in. There is no point the club selling a good player and then claim there was no time to bring in a replacement. These days and interest will have been known for some time.

Great player for us this season, but at his age will never replicate this form again next season. If a high selling price is offered then it is worth considering, if a replacement that is as good but younger is on the radar, for an affordable deal

He's never been average, he's been played out of position at lot though!

Murphy is like an old car you have, he's worth far more to you than it is to others. Hull will probably only want to pay about 1 mil for him, but to us he's worth a lot more.
Money talks though, he's 31, if he can get a great deal to see him out, well, we know the rest!!
