Bishop Starts at Boro
Saturday, 14th Mar 2015 11:22

Teddy Bishop replaces Richard Chaplow in an otherwise unchanged Town side ahead of this lunchtime’s live Sky game at Middlesbrough (KO 12.15pm).

Bishop, man of the match in the Blues' 2-0 home win against the Teessiders in December, is set to start in the centre of midfield with Jay Tabb moving to the left and Jonny Parr to the right.

Dean Gerken, whose wife gave birth yesterday, continues in goal with Bartosz Bialkowski on the bench with Paddy Kenny also having made the trip.

Chaplow drops to the bench alongside Kevin Bru, who is back after his knee injury. Stephen Hunt travelled having recovered from his hamstring problem but is not in the 18, but David McGoldrick remained in Suffolk but is likely to be in the squad for the home game against Bolton on Tuesday.

Middlesbrough: Konstantopoulos, Kalas, Ayala, Gibson, Friend, Leadbitter, Clayton, Adomah, Reach, Bamford, Vossen. Subs: Ripley, Woodgate, Forshaw, Nsue, Whitehead, Tomlin, Kike.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Mings, Smith, Berra, Skuse, Bishop, Parr, Tabb, Murhy, Sears. Subs: Bialkowski, Clarke, Anderson, Chaplow, Bru, Varney, Wood. Referee: Mike Jones (Chester).

No real surprise. Tabb always likely to start. I am pleased Bishop replaces Chaplow. Bishop far more attacking and creative. Probably the best selection considering the options we have available.

Tabb.... Seriously, a left midfielder is meant to provide crosses, push the full back back, help counter attacks, chip in with some goals, provide pace and width, and we have jay tabb who was told he could leave the club now is starting every week, think we will lose today, don't think we are good enough to go and beat any of the top 6 now, we aren't going to attack them, just sit back and hope something goes in our favour, going to be some very unhappy people if we do lose

Let's hope we keep Leadbitter as quiet as he was at PR. Bishop ran the show that day with his composure on the ball and eye for a pass. More of the same today, please. COYB!

Very pleased with the selection of Bishop creativity. Although fully expected agree that the Tabb selection is hard to comprehend and also Gerken after a very shaky return last week. Result is more important than the selection COYB

Just realised I spelt Gerken wrong and there is no edit button on here.

I also spelt 'has' and 'his' incorrectly. Time for a drink methinks.

So, Cameron Stewart has his best performance of the season for the U 21's and can't even get a spot on the bench when we are crying out for a little bit of pace and attacking flair.

reckon we are still a bit sHoRT in midfield.. and slow in adding to our decent squad

Less hoofball, passing back please more passes on the floor and pass forwards needed today, play to win not to lose.

Makes me laugh that we have Smith now continually starting alongside Berra in central defence and Chambers out of position in right back simply as Mick wants to play Parr in midfield! as we have such little quality on either wing...should have strengthened undoubtedly in January and now the starting 11 looks a bit lop sided.

Draw today for me...but NEED 3 points.

Gerken is a complete liability who doesn't command his box at all.

Criminal defending from chambers, then bishop, then mings and finally gerken. Regardless of that hope gerken is ok.
