Berra in Scotland Squad

Town central defender Christophe Berra has been named in the Scotland squad for their friendly against Northern Ireland and European Championships qualifier with Gibraltar later this month.

The Scots face the Northern Irish on Wednesday 25th March and then the Gibraltarians on Sunday 29th March with both games at Hampden Park.

Berra, 30, has previously won 28 full caps, scoring two goals. Former Blues striker Jordan Rhodes, currently with Blackburn, has also been named in the squad.

He's probably our best defender at the moment, it's just that he is having to cover Smith, Chambers and Mings far too much.

God knows how much he runs on match day, he must put in a fair stint.

Not a poor defender. An overworked defender. If we had signed St Ledger we could have rested him for a few games.

I don't doubt that he does alot of running but he doesn't talk with either of the keepers and 9 times out of 10 he causes us more trouble.

I would also like to add that he fouls too much unnecessarily!

NoBru we are all p1ssed off at the moment with how bad results and performances have been the last couple of months, but to say that the best defender we have probably had in over a decade is a "poor defender" is a stupid comment really

De Vos and McAuley are the only two on that list who were anywhere near being of the same calibre as Berra,so the list does not go on.
