West Brom Linked With Mings
Sunday, 14th Jun 2015 15:10

West Brom boss Tony Pulis is reported to be keen on taking Blues left-back Tyrone Mings to the Hawthorns this summer.

According to the Birmingham Mail two full-backs are on Pulis's summer wish-list and Mings is a target.

They also claim that the Blues have put a £6 million price tag on the 22-year-old but that Town are in no hurry to sell.

Scouts from virtually every Premier League club - including the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea - kept tabs on Mings throughout the season with the Blues understood to be unlikely to cash in on the one-time Southampton schoolboy for a fee below £10 million, having turned down a £3.5 million offer from Crystal Palace last summer.

In September last year Mings, who cost the Blues £10,000 when he was signed from the Evo-Stick League Chippenham in December 2012, signed a contract which runs to the summer of 2017.

We can't expect £10 million for him surely!

I have to be honest and say I'd take £6m if it was cash up front with a sell on.

Mings has terrific potential but I don't think he's maintained the £10m tag that he had early on.

I'd be happy with Parr there and some good cash to reinvest. He could he this years Dyer.

£6M with sell and add ons seems like a decent price.

That said, unless Evans is prepared to spend every last penny on players and not just frees then it's pointless selling anyone. I've said it before, but I still don't feel we reinvested the Cresswell money. If we did, then we didn't spend the money on wages saved from the countless other players who left last Summer.

KuqiCoup I agree, except there has been a distinct lack of reinvesting funds obtained for players recently, not sure if that is down to the new financial rules or not?

Lets hope we see a few additions soon

I don't dislike Mings, but if we DO get 10 mill for him all I can say is we severely undersold Aaron Cresswell.

Looking at the highlights from last season Mings was central to lots of our attacks. We would miss him but think it inevitable that he leaves

If the question is how to do Ipswich improve next season - Parr is not part of any answer

The first half version of Mings would be sad to lose but 6 mil would be a very good price. He can be very lapse minded and I think Parr would do a very good job.

I'd be sad to see him go but £6m plus 20% sell on fee and I'd happily enough accept it. We can go and get a few great signings with that amount of money. A full back's not going to win you the league and should be an easy enough position to replace.

Sell, he is not careful enough in possession for the premier or even the championship

I'll be honest I agree with KuqiCoup & AJD1111 (& others) £6million + with a sell on clause, I think I'd accept, for me he's got potential, but I think he gets caught out of position & loses the ball too often, Parr at left back, Chambers back in the middle with Berra, & invest in a decent right back.

£6m is nowhere near enough. Mings is worth 70% more to a PL club than he was last year thanks to the new TV deal. We should be looking for £10m + 70% and I bet someone will be willing to pay it

Take it!!! He's not irreplaceable, there's plenty of quality Left Backs! I'm not fussed either way, be happy for him to stay, be happy to take £6mil for him!

Like it says it's bot going to be just west brom that are interested so that should increase the price?

If we sell need to reinvest in squad but cannot see that happening we need a bigger squad this season not smaller. In mick we trust

I'm afraid I don't agree with what seems to be the majority on this issue. I really hope we keep Mings. I think he's pretty decent already at this level and offers a threat going forward. But more importantly, he's only had one season and has every chance of getting even better. For his sake and ours, I hope we keep him at least another season, after which, if we then have to sell, I expect him to be worth quite a bit more. The more we can keep the current squad together and add a bit of quality, not lose it, the more chance we have of going the extra mile next time. But when a Premiership team comes calling, the end result is usually that they get what they want. So I'm not optimistic.

Get rid, Parr is a much better player for that position.

Have to agree with Steve. Having said that if the options are to keep Tyrone and develop him further or to get $10 million plus sell-on and add-ons., those are excellent choices and a very nice decision to have to make!

He's got huge potential but a lot to learn especially defensively.

I wouldn't want to lose him, he's only going to get better and I want to see that in a blue shirt

Mings reminds me of Titus Bramble. I think if we sold him it would be too early for his career and though he may do OK he will always be prone to defensive lapses. I think keeping him a year will give him time to develop away from the pressure cooker and add value. Don't sell yet is my recommendation and I'm sure ME will be baring my thoughts and all of these comments in mind ... as he does just what the hell he likes :D

If we got 6 or 8 million even half of that would go a long way to solving our midfield issues and as has been mentioned Parr is a reasonable replacement. Sure that MM is having the lower leagues looked at for similar up and comers to Mings....... will be interesting to see who is here when the first Championship game kicks off

Tyrone doesn't want any old club in the premiership, Liverpool is his preferred choice. And they won't come knocking yet, another full brilliant season then they might.

Hard to call this one, £6m would be a good deal with add-ons, defo has the potential to turn into a £10m+ player but I don't see that as being a left back - more of a left midfield/winger, for me he made too many defensive mistakes last season - 2 in against Norwich in the play-offs 2nd leg - to stay at left back. Someone of the Parr kind behind him would work.... that said, I'm sure Big Mick has got it all in hand!

M.E DIDN'T RE-INVEST IN THE SQUAD??

I believe he coughs up £5m per year just to keep us ticking over.
Be honest how many of us would do this if we were in his position?
