Fraser Aiming for Championship Double Friday, 3rd Jul 2015 06:00 Ryan Fraser’s target as an Ipswich player is to achieve what he did with Bournemouth last season and win promotion to the Premier League. The 21-year-old Scottish winger (pictured above celebrating promotion with Cherries team-mates Marc Pugh and Harry Arter) started six league games and was a substitute on a further 15 occasions during the last campaign, also contributing one goal as the Cherries clinched the Championship title and earned top-flight status for the very first time. Now, having agreed a season-long loan deal at Portman Road, he would like nothing more than to clock up his very own promotion double by helping Town to follow in his parent club’s footsteps. Fraser said: “If I had stayed at Bournemouth there was always a chance of getting games in the Premier League but I loved playing in the Championship for the last two seasons and I’m sure I will get my time in the Premier League in the future. “I’m focused on Ipswich now and hopefully I can help them to get promoted to the Premier League. It was nice getting promoted last season, obviously, with all the celebrations and stuff. “Throughout the season, when you are winning, all the lads are on a high, everyone’s happy and the fans are buzzing. I’m sure they had that here as well last season when they were in the play-offs so hopefully we can go one better this time.” Town boss Mick McCarthy gave his new recruit a tremendous build-up earlier in the week when he said Fraser would be a “revelation” and was the sort of player to “get bums on seats”. Fraser added: “I’ll be doing my very best. I like to get at opponents and get the fans off their seats, so hopefully I can do what I’ve done my whole life and try to spark the team. “I’m about trying to create chances and score goals, and I like to dribble with the ball and impress people. “It was good to hear what the manager had to say about me. He has a reputation for getting the best out of his players and hopefully that will continue. “From my point of view I’m sure it will. It’s all been very positive so far, although we have gone into any real depth. “It’s just been about whether I’m enjoying it and how I’ve settled in. The lads have been nice to me and welcomed me. “It’s all happened very quickly but I’ve got to know the lads. I still haven’t met them all but I’m sure I will settle in fine.”
