Friend Gaardsøe Recommended Town Move
Friday, 31st Jul 2015 20:00

New signing Jonas Knudsen has revealed he sounded out former Town man and his one-time Esbjerg team-mate Thomas Gaardsøe before joining the Blues. The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal with an option for a further season.

“It is a great feeling to be an Ipswich Town player and I can’t wait to start playing for the team,” the Danish international told the club site.

“I have always watched English football and have dreamed of playing here and now I’m going to have the chance to do that. It’s a really exciting move for me.

“I saw some Ipswich games last season and know the team was near the top of the league.

"I think we can have another good year and hopefully get into the Premier League. That is one of my big hopes - to get in the Premier League with Ipswich.”

He added: “I played with Thomas Gaardsøe at Esbjerg for three years and he is a friend of mine.

“He played here at Ipswich and he told me what a great club it is and that the town was good as well. He said it would be a good move for me.”

Regarding his lengthy throw, which Town supporters could see during tomorrow’s home friendly against Dutch side FC Utrecht at Portman Road, he said. “I can throw the ball a long way. Someone in Denmark said I will be the new [Rory] Delap!”

He can probably throw a ball further than Jay Tabb can kick it! Daryl Murphy must be licking his lips knowing this kid's joining!

Sorry to disappoint Jonas but when Thomas was here the Town was a lot nicer, gone down hill since the migrants swarmed in & the investment disappeared. However, Suffolk is a beautiful County so get yourself a nice pad on the outskirts & you'll be ok.

Gareth Mc Auley had a very long throw which Northern Ireland use when he plays as a left back. Neither skill set used by Town when he played fro us.

kiwiblue: Are you sure that "k" is totally "silent"? I'll send you my bank details so you can forward the money. -:)

If it matters Knudsen is pronounced with a K that is not silent. The d is silent though. 'Knussen'

This is a forum about football, not the place for idiotic generalisations about "migrants". The daily mail has a nice website for you.

Lonelyblue, Bankster: So you both think the Town centre is thriving? Wow. Have a walk around on a Sunday. The Dynamics have certainly changed & if you both read the article you will see it mentioned the Town so who are the idiots?

Back to the football, great signing.

Warkys_Tash: er, on a Sunday? What town centre is heaving on a Sunday..?! It's absolutely chocca on a Saturday mate, i.e. the main shopping day in the week..! And as for the quality of the town centre, well, Ipswich is experiencing something provincial town centres are experiencing across the country - a shift in purpose and a shrinking in size. There're actually far more decent shops than people seem to think - they're just spread out over too wide an area...

And you need to drop the 'bloomin' foreigners' line. Ipswich's migration is minute compared to other parts of the country and in no way responsible for the town's (apparent) woes. But you're spot on about Suffolk - God's own country, in my humble opinion...

Sorry to bore everyone else on here, but it had to be said. Great piece of business this Knudsen deal. Similar signing on the other side and we'd have a starting 11 to match any in the league and a fair bit of depth...
