Scorer of U14s’ 'Barcelona' Goal Joins Arsenal
Friday, 28th Aug 2015 09:11

Harry Clarke, the scorer of the U14s' Barcelona-esque goal which went viral at the start of last season has joined Arsenal’s Academy.

Clarke added the final touch to the 13-pass goal scored against Millwall which has now received more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Having started training with the Gunners earlier in the month, Clarke scored on his debut for Arsenal’s U15s as they beat AFC Bournemouth 3-0 last week.

Clarke, 14, is the younger brother of striker George Clarke, who was with the Town Academy during 2013/14.

Good Luck to the boy. Make the most of the opportunity.

That goal gets better every time I watch it. It's like they're playing FIFA.
Hell of a lot of money for a 14-year-old, that. Can't really grumble at the club taking it.

An amazing goal, some of the control shown on those one-touch passes when the ball's coming to them at pace in a tight area is phenomenal.

Best of luck to the kid.

Never get tired of watching that goal, sensational stuff.

Good luck to the lad at Arsenal.

I can only assume for that amount of money we assume he had potential so there would be some clauses in that for sell on etc?

MaySixth added 09:20 - Aug 28
Good for him and good for the club.

BlueKush added 09:26 - Aug 28
You shouldn't be able to buy 14 year old boys.

Lord_Mac added 09:27 - Aug 28
Presumably Harry Clarke for £100,000 and Maitland-Niles? Good piece of business that.

Westover added 09:30 - Aug 28
So Mick you have enough cash to buy 10 Mings to sell on for 800 000 so that sorts our debt out

Throbbe added 09:36 - Aug 28
Should have squared it.

skusesrightpeg added 09:39 - Aug 28
So we sell a 14 year old striker for the same money we brought sears for. Footballs bonkers

rickw added 09:55 - Aug 28
I'd hope we have a sell on clause. Because although £100k is good for a 14 year old, if he becomes a £50m player everyone will soon change their tune!

dude added 09:57 - Aug 28
Why sell?

steve_mcalls_teeth added 09:58 - Aug 28
100k for a 14 year old boy, good god the worlds gone mad ! Good luck to him at arsenal, hopefully we can take him back if he doesnt make the team

muccletonjoe added 10:05 - Aug 28
Frankly it is obscene buying schoolboys for any amount of money.

ITFCBlues added 10:13 - Aug 28
There will be no sell on and we HAD to sell - welcome to category 2 Academy status!

Marshalls_Mullet added 10:15 - Aug 28
Marginally less than we paid for a 15 year old Chris Hogg c.15 years ago.

MVBlue added 10:23 - Aug 28
Good point Mullet!

whatever happened there.

hoppy added 10:25 - Aug 28
What is the ruling, if he does become a really top player and moves on for big money - don't we get a percentage of any fee anyway as part of his development?

parhamblue added 10:27 - Aug 28
Not happy. Why did we HAVE to sell?

Fixed_It added 10:38 - Aug 28
He took two touches - they are welcome to him! :)

MyBlueHeaven added 10:53 - Aug 28
Sorry but '£100,00 deal' is horribly vague. I'm pretty sure a club can't sell a player under 16, can they? There's no contract after all - just schoolboy forms. Are those binding?

Does the £100,000 deal refer to what Arsenal will give the lad if he's still there in 2/3 years to sign a professional contract?

chappie99 added 10:55 - Aug 28
Though the goal was indeed a good finish, it was the move and all the other players involved who made it so great to watch and admire. I'd argue that some of those other touches from midfield and defence were just as high quality.

Its great that ITFC are developing talent like these young lads, really encouraging.

The same that we paid for Freddie Sears.. Unreal really.
They shouldn't be allowed to buy a 14 year old from OUR academy. Far too young.

trncbluearmy added 11:10 - Aug 28
Cannot believe how naive some of the comments are on here, only one other person seems to have grasped that we have lost one of our youngsters to a Cat 1 Academy.
Sooner we get Cat 1 the better so that we can protect our assets.
