Lloyd Dyer to Join Town
Monday, 8th Feb 2016 10:26

TWTD understands that former Watford, Leicester, West Brom and Millwall winger Lloyd Dyer will join the Blues on a deal to the end of the season. The 33-year-old’s contract at Vicarage Road was terminated by mutual consent last week.

Birmingham-born Dyer began his career at the Hawthorns and spent time out on loan at Kidderminster, Coventry and QPR before signing for the Lions in 2006.

He moved on to the MK Dons for two seasons before signing for Leicester in 2008 and helping them to the 2013/14 Championship title.

The 5ft 8in tall wideman moved on to Watford that summer, signing a three-year deal, but made only six starts and 10 sub appearances for the Hornets last season, scoring three goals.

In January last year he went out on loan to Birmingham, where he made eight starts and 11 sub appearances and netted once. Having not been involved at all this season he left Vicarage Road last week.

"We understand Dyer will put pen to paper on a deal to the end of the season on Tuesday.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy was looking for an additional left-sided winger even before Ryan Fraser suffered his hamstring injury during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at QPR with Tommy Oar having left Portman Road at his own request last month.

Former Arsenal and Charlton man Jerome Thomas spent a week training at Playford Road but wasn't offered terms. Town are likely to announce how long Fraser will be out of action today.

Straight in against Bristol City on Saturday then lloyd. Always liked him. Lots of pace and energy, well, he used to have. Bet this offer was hastened after Fraser's hamstring injury on Saturday.

With Hyam, Douglas, Skuse and Bishop all out, is our midfield for Saturday currently this?

AMN / Coke / Tabb / Dyer - Ooosht!

Every time Dyer has played at Portman Road his had our right back on toast, just shows all these negative post are from people that don't actually go to games, Dyer is a decent signing for nothing - Stop moaning you arm chair know it all's.

Derby played 30 won 13 lost 5 for 40 against 26 manager sacked.
Ipswich played 30 won 13 lost 8 for 39 against 37 manager given 2 year extension.

Welcome to ambition Ipswich !!

Paul Clement sacked not because of position but 'The priorities were building on the Derby way and style of football enjoyed in the past two seasons; adding depth and strength to our playing squad; and, developing and improving player and team performance.' So there us some integrity in the game. Lets get back to the same principles. Play the Ipswich old way - pass and move not hoof and stay

We should make some inquiries into signing crouch on loan. Perfect for our game plan and can't get a kick at Stoke. Just a thought.

Tifty yep and we've spent zip.
A least Derby tried to play football and not the dross McCarthy serves up.
Even with their coach in charge I expect they will make play offs. We are not even favorites to beat a side four points from bottom Saturday.

He WAS a good player 5 years ago but if he didnt make at Brum why on earth is MM taking him on? Surly there're better options out there but if ME wont fund them (I'm assuming) then this is all we're going to get. Roll on summer!

Waste of time and money, that could be put towards having no mascot fees.. Dont care if he hasn't kicked a ball yet. If I'm wrong I'll eat my foot

Reality is:- Who do we really expect to get ? ....... other than this kind of signing.

Very few players are genuinely interested in the modern / current ITFC Style - I would hazard a guess that Sears is not too enamoured with it all, along with a few others.

Some of our current squad will be no more impressed than many of us, but can you imagine what their life at ITFC would be if they dare to indicate so .. ? Is that what some call good man management .. ?

Thank heavens for some good memories .... !!!

....... all of a sudden Lloyd Dyer becomes 'almost' world class @ 33, having signed for us.

Amazing that - after being rejected by Clubs, and becoming a free agent.

All power to his elbow - I mean feet.

Blueboy I didn't realise you were such good mates with the first team squad. I seem to remember you stating before season started saying murphy wouldn't sign a new contract under current regime. Which he duly did. Sears also signed a extended contract this season. Why do that if your pissed off? On the subject of dyer lets give the poor bloke a chance shall we he hasnt even signed yet. I haven't seen anyone calling him world class. If people have I'd say such exaggerations are no worse than the people writhing him off already. Let's just give the bloke a chance shall we.

exactly it, I and quite a few don't think he's worth given a chance at our great club.. We need better.

Think Dyer will be a good signing, but if we are expecting bags of pace we may be disappointed. Been looking at Fan Forums which strongly suggest he may have a very good 20 minutes in him at the end of a game. World class in comparison to Coke et Al but we can't expect to get 60 mins from him every game. A good late sub which is really what we need. Prefer this signing to Jerome Thomas.
