McCarthy Yet to Find Right Man to Add to Squad
Friday, 26th Feb 2016 06:00

Town boss Mick McCarthy doesn’t expect to add to his squad before Saturday’s game at Huddersfield as he’s yet to find anyone to come in who is better than the players already in his squad.

“Not really, but I’m looking around,” he said when asked if it was likely there’d be a new addition before the weekend.

“I can always go and get somebody, but is it going to be somebody that’s going to make us better? I haven’t found that one yet.”

He says sometimes it’s the case that a target isn’t made available by their club and on other occasions a player doesn’t want to go out on loan.

“It's a bit of both. That was before in the transfer window and it’s still the same position really,” he continued.

“Maybe you can get some in, but it’s who you want and getting them in, and that’s not been the case.”

He added: “They’ve got to come in and play and be better than what we’ve got. And, I might say, we all start looking elsewhere for answers and the reality is that the answer might just have to be in-house and perhaps we’ve all got to play that little bit better, be that little bit more confident.

“How you get confident is by getting a result. I thought the first half on Tuesday was good. I’ve watched it again and I’ve no reason to think otherwise, that could have gone either way, the first half.

“It changed on the goal and they proved what a good side they were after that. But we may well have to sort it out in here without outside help or influence.”

The Town boss has been impressed with his most recent loan recruit, midfielder Ben Pringle.

“I was pleased with him, I have been in both his games,” he said. “The one thing we did get was deliveries from freekicks and corners and I thought he gave us a good balance on that side.

“And even when he went on the right-hand side before he went off he put one good delivery in that Murph got on the end of. I’m pleased with him and the more games he has the better he’ll get, I’ve no doubt.”

“I can always go and get somebody, but is it going to be somebody that's going to make us better? I haven't found that one yet.” ........ You are really boring now !!!! This is total and utter trash Mick. I could find better than we've got on some local parks on a Sunday morning. If you can't find better you're not looking very hard. We desperately need a RB, a LB 2 creative midfielders and a quality finisher. Not one of our team will get in the championship team of the year coz they are nowhere near good enough. You're deluded with no plan B and stubborn to the core by sticking with hugely underperforming favourites who should be back ups at best but more likely league 1 players. While you and the club stick to this transfer strategy and style of play with this group of dross we have no hope !!!

Quite bizarre really. He added poor options like Coke, Toure, Digby and the Polish fella. He gave Tabb and Varney new deals, plus signed 34 year old Douglas. But we are now supposed to believe he can't find better? Or does he mean Evans has only Freed up funds to sign another cheap option like Digby? Probably the latter.

What you should have said: " I can't find anyone better than what we've got that we can afford"

Ha Ha, yet more drivel from this football fossil.
McCarthy you would be a perfect fit in a TV series playing the part of “Grandad”
Just think of a well-known comedy hit
“Only Fools and Horses”

Listen mate, we're not mugs. This continued mantra doesn't work anymore, remember we go to the games and see the truly shocking performances your teams produce.

Isn't in time for a coup de'tat with Bryan Klug leading us into battle?

Bardsley as right back , Liam Moore as centre back / right back ,Pocognoli as left back , Texiera for some creative flair ,Sebastian Larsson for midfield spark , Ricky Lambert as a target man as Murphy is struggling , Dwight Gayle to add pace .
None of these players are playing at their clubs and are all better than what we have , it is your job to get them to want to come MM and offer some decent money otherwise the season is over if it is not already and really should have been done 2 months ago

Well if you're not going to sign someone then can we at least go back to basics and play players in their proper positions please? Sears deserves a run up front, he's so wasted out on the wing and Murphy and a few others need to know they're droppable. Too many players in our 11 who know it doesn't matter how badly they play, they'll always stay in the team.

We shouldn't of sold Anderson, Parr & even Ambrose he's at a poor club now. We never went in the loan market for Jonny Williams any more & he was his number one target last season. Moncur is out there could be another snip like Sears.
There is the likes of Mcgugan & Liam Palmer for sheff weds who sit on the bench for them, they could be great loan signings for us. Give us some goals from midfield!! Kightly from Burnley who doesn't play. Look a bit harder Mick there is decent players out there. Don't sweat over wages either just get them in...

Why are some of you hanging around parks? At least put it to use and alert the clubs to these undiscovered gems! Let's see how Mick views them through dry eyes...

Your really taking the biscuit now Mick. You've had all season to sort this terrible mess out,and what have you done."very little".In December you said the squad was strong enough and YOU would not be getting any further loan players.Do you really know what your doing,I ask myself. Our CEO says there is money in the pot should you need it,well, what are you doing about it.All you say now is most clubs only have the rubbish they don't want.Where do we go from here than Mick.I really think you have gone as far as you can and it's scratch head time. All we want is the best for this club and your not giving it to us.Wrong tactics, square pegs in round holes, bad substitutions, need I go on.How much longer can this club take this.We are always the nearly club now and it's just not good enough.IS IT MICK.!!

....do you know what ...I don't mind him saying this because for me it sadly sums up exactly what we now have with Mick.....One trick Mick has been found out and all know now how we play....we can't attract anyone decent in as no one wants to play football the way we do (well apart from some of the "satisfied with mediocre " supporters on this board) ....it's staring Mick in the face....we loose Fraser and his style of football and we loose game after game.....what does Mick want to replace that with ?? Douglas,s all over the pitch ...the man did great for us but as we all knew from his past...he has a shelf life because he gets found out and won't change his ways.....can't find anyone better ...unbelievable Mick ....sorry ...time has past ...you should have gone by now ....perhaps we should give you the hhoooooffff ...be quite a tribute to the legacy we have been given ...COYB

surco mentioned Texiera, Well is he the guy who really outplayed us last season and we could not contain him ????????
Sears since he has played out wide he has not scored for us, So MM. surely you must have noticed his lack of goals ???? We certainly have !!!!
Why oh Why Evans could not have waited till the end of the season before renewing MM. and TC. contracts ???? since they signed them we have been going downhill !!!

Moaners call for players to come in......we sign players......moaners moan they aren't good enough. Mick is right, why just sign ANYONE, if we are going to sign someone on loan it must be the RIGHT on, we need to be a little patient, he will get it right.

The fans are missing the point - there is no-one out there better than what we've got that:
A) Wants to go on loan
B) Is allowed to go on loan

Mick's hands are a little bit tied now - yes January we should of spent, but now it's hard to pick someone up.

This may get a few disagrees but does it always have to be better? If you look at our squad we have a nucleus we just don't have depth. I'm not asking for Larsen Touré, Giles Coke or Piotr Malarczyk again, can't we just find suitable players for free to add the depth of the squad. Not confident at all we'll go up this season but if we improve depth and have them all on permanent contracts, the next few seasons could be brighter!

Does no one understand that mick is doing his job perfectly?!?! So we have a bad run of former, you don't cry about it, you try and sort it out and the way he is doing it is the correct way! On Tuesday our team costs probably 20million less than hull but did we look that far away from them? No we consider one goal against an attack that cost more than our whole team! Mick is right in saying it's confidence we need, yes players back from injury would help but now the players need support from our moaning fans and confidence from when we give Huddersfield an absolute spanking tomorrow!

And for those calling for a new Rb chambers has actually played very well as a rb and with Tommy have both been very good. Chambers has score a handful of goals which has won us games and he also gives wingers something to think about athe both ends which for a cb playing out of position is actually brilliant.

So you pessimistic moaners need to stop crying, get over yourself and realise life is too short to find a hole in every single word mick says just to complain about it.

This is just not good enough-----he is ding the job full time with staff and scouts reporting to him and reckons he can find no-one better than what we have----UNBELIEVABLE.

I see Cardiff got a dutch guy in-----he may be no good (we will find out soon) but at least they seem to be making an effort and trying.

Pringle----no better than Henshall and can not tackle or head the ball.

See you all up north tomorrow-nice pub on station for starters!!
