Oar Returns to Brisbane
Monday, 29th Feb 2016 09:33

Former Town winger Tommy Oar has joined his former club the Brisbane Roar back in his native Australia. The 24-year-old has signed a deal covering the rest of this season and a further two years.

“I’m really happy to join Brisbane and come back to the A-League,” Australian international Oar said.

“Brisbane is where it all started for me, and since I left I’ve watched them have an enormous amount of success.

“I’m looking forward to working hard to hopefully help Brisbane win more silverware.”

Brisbane's football operations manager Craig Moore added: "Tommy is a quality player with a proven record in top-flight football."

The Queenslander, who was previously with the Roar between 2008 and 2010, left the Blues by mutual consent in January after failing to settle having signed on a free transfer from Dutch side FC Utrecht last summer.

Oar, who dismissed reports that Town's style of play was to blame for his exit after only five months, made four starts and five sub appearances for the Blues, scoring his only goal in the FA Cup third round tie against Portsmouth at Portman Road.

Well at least he was true to his word and didn't sign for someone else no nearer home.

Fair play to him

Best of luck to the lad. Looked like a very decent player and at 24, could have grown to be a great player for us. Shame to lose him, but lets hope MM has some wingers in mind.........

Super observation groundhog. I drove through there once out of curiosity. Good to see that Tommy was true to his word and did not pitch up at another European club.
