Knudsen in Danish Squad
Wednesday, 9th Mar 2016 13:33

Town left-back Jonas Knudsen has been named in the Denmark squad for their friendlies against Iceland and Scotland later this month.

The Danes face the Icelanders at home in Herning on Thursday 24th March and then the Scots at Hampden Park on the following Tuesday.

Knudsen, 23, has previously won two full Danish caps but this is his first call-up since joining the Blues last summer.

Speaking in December, Knudsen said he was hoping to break into new Denmark manager - and one-time Norwich defender - Ã…ge Hareide's squad.

Denmark: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester), Jonas Lössl (Guingamp), Frederik Rønnow (Brøndby), Henrik Dalsgaard (Zulte Waregem), Daniel Agger (Brøndby), Simon Kjær (Fenerbahce), Jores Okore (Aston Villa), Andreas Christensen (Gladbach), Jannik Vestergaard (Werder Bremen), Erik Sviatchenko (Celtic), Riza Durmisi (Brøndby), Daniel Wass (Celta), Jonas Knudsen (Ipswich Town), Thomas Delaney (FC København), Michael Krohn-Dehli (Sevilla), William Kvist, (FC København), Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Schalke 04), Christian Eriksen (Tottenham), Lasse Schöne (Ajax), Lasse Vibe (Brentford), Nicolai Jørgensen (FC København), Yussuf Poulsen (Leipzig), Martin Braithwaite (Toulouse).

Not sure the inconsistencies of the championship season are a true barometer of an international call up, but good luck to him, he'll have gained some down to earth football experience playing in our league

Good player. Deserves his call up.

If I was the Irish Manager I'd be looking to call up Foley too

So far he hasn't looked as assured on the ball as I would expect at this level and if he wasn't a blue not sure the comments would be so positive. What is beyond doubt for me is that for what he has cost us he was another great bit of business.

It has taken Knudson time to settle into his role and he is a much better player now than when he first arrived. Most of our problems in defence leading to goals comes from the right hand side. (I wonder why that is?).

At 23 and with more and more experience he has a strong future....and I hope that's with ITFC.

Knudsen gets a lot of criticism on here and for a young guy who has never played in England before, please give this guy some time to develop. Think he will be very good for us next season. Just gutted we haven't seen a decent left footed strike on goal from this guy as I know he has it in his locker.

Wow, what a negative bunch we are!

One of our players has been called up by his country and here we are saying he isn't good enough!

23 years old, never played in England before, coming in to replace Mings who moved on for BIG money. Tough start for anyone, however I think he is showing huge potential and will no doubt kick on next season with a full season of English football behind him. The Championship is fast paced and physical. He is holding his own defensively.

Here is a thought... lets support our players and wish good things for them

He'll do alright in a team with some decent players.
