Dozzell Nets Late Winner for U21s
Monday, 4th Apr 2016 15:09

Andre Dozzell’s late freekick saw Town’s U21s to a 2-1 victory at Barnsley this afternoon, Myles Kenlock having hit the Blues’ earlier goal in the first half, the left-back’s second in two games.

Midfielder Adam McDonnell saw a first-half penalty saved by the Tykes’ keeper.

Mark Kennedy's side have now won two in a row and are unbeaten in three.

U21s: Crowe, Emmanuel, Fowler, Smith, Kenlock, Dozzell, Benyu, McDonnell, Blanchfield, J Brown, McLoughlin. Subs: Marsden, Patterson, McKendry, Downes, Salaudeen.

The day Dozzell junior makes a start for ITFC will be a great day. Oh how we miss the flair, the creation, the quick feet and the calm quality of his Old man.

Get Andre on the bench at least on Saturday. Too late for tomorrow if he played today.

Dozzell and Bishop are going to be the guys that rejuvenate our dull midfield next season

We need to do everything we can to keep Dozzell, sounds like to be a very, very good little player. Hope he doesn't learn off the current man in charge and start to play it long in the air..

Also, a left back who likes a goal?! Not had one since the cressy days!

Pleased to see Dozzell and McDonnell improving.

I live in Bristol and asked my friend how Yowerth did for Crawley, told him he was highly rated by some here. He told me he was absolutely horrific and got his pants pulled down for 90 mins. He did apparently try to play from the back and was caught out on numerous occasions.

It's all well and good people wanting these kids in the first team but they need to be playing very very well at their loan clubs.

Wonder what next season holds for Yowerth/ Clarke/ Emmanuel in particular.

Myles Kenlock looked an excellent prospect at the start of the season against Stevenage, if he has continued to improve he should be in contention for a place in the first team. Young Dozzell and Bishop would certainly give us a midfield capable of playing on the deck.

Kenlock seems to be scoring a few, maybe soon time to give him a first team run out in place of Knudsen?

I'd love to see Dozzell feature, but with Bishop and McGoldrick on the bench I doubt he will get a chance tomorrow.

Hyam, Bishop, Dozzell

Future ITFC midfield looks exciting, just need an exciting young manager to go with it, Hyam doing his sweeping up duties in that midfield three will make him a 100x better player for us aswell

I would certainly like to think bishop and dozell will be paired up in midfield next season. Something tells me not in a million years with the manager in situ

I wish we could have a little realism re Dozzell - it's not football manager. Not even made his debut and some comments about him and Bishop - surely they are both quite similar and I cannot see how you'd get both in the same side.

Mick's said if we're not in with a chance of play offs some young lads would get a go.

Perhaps ala Derby away from yesteryear where we won 4-1 after picking a different side!?

Let's get Dozzell involved if play offs become a non option.

Currie10.From your remarks you don't seem to be very keen on bringing players through from the youth team despite what Milne said 3 or 4 years ago.

I presume there for that you are happy to see half the team over 30 as now, with not a single player being brought through by MM in his time here to play regularly in first team.I know about Bishop and Mings was bought from Chippenham Town,I think on the recommendation of Russell Osman who lives in the West country.

Christ of course I am - ridiculous comment. I want nothing more than the kids to succeed - why the hell we have Giles Coke for instance is beyond me. Nothing more I want than young players to progress.

I was merely making the point at how we'd play both Dozzell and Bishop together?! Similar sorts of central mid attacking players. I don't get how me questioning this makes me suddenly anti - youth.

I thought McDonnell was meant to be a talent, annoyed he's not yet made his debut.

Regarding the defenders that people have said are " good enough " and " should be " in the side - people were saying that about Yowerth - I reported back that apparently he was pants vs Bristol Rovers two divisions down. Just relaying what I've been told.

The other point I'm going to make is why Benyu and McDonnell haven't gone out on loan for example? Surely worth getting a few more of these lads out and involved.
