Douglas Triggers One-Year Extension to Town Contract
Friday, 8th Apr 2016 12:38

Midfielder Jonathan Douglas has triggered a 12-month extension to his contract with the Blues, having joined Town from tomorrow’s opponents Brentford on a free transfer last summer, when he signed a one-year deal with an option for a second season.

“I’m delighted to be staying and I still think I can play for another couple of years,” the 34-year-old former Ireland international told the club site.

“I have reached the number of games that triggers a new contract for me, so as far as I’m concerned I will be here next season.

"I’m really enjoying it here and want to carry on playing as long as possible.

“We face Brentford this weekend and hopefully we can get a win and push for the play-offs, as it’s still a possibility.

“We have to have belief that we can make it. We have to keep going, keep working hard and see where it takes us.

“We have a really good squad here and with Didz and Bish back, that has been made stronger.”

Douglas has made 31 starts and three sub appearances and has scored three goals for the Blues.

Coke has a 3 year contract. I believe a further year can be triggered during the 3rd year.

On the positive side, he may get better as he ages like a good red wine.

Oh my god. Tabb last season triggered a clause and hasn't played, now Douglas. ITFC a retirement home for the aged. Not what this club should be known as. Changes all round please.
