Douglas Triggers One-Year Extension to Town Contract
Friday, 8th Apr 2016 12:38

Midfielder Jonathan Douglas has triggered a 12-month extension to his contract with the Blues, having joined Town from tomorrow’s opponents Brentford on a free transfer last summer, when he signed a one-year deal with an option for a second season.

“I’m delighted to be staying and I still think I can play for another couple of years,” the 34-year-old former Ireland international told the club site.

“I have reached the number of games that triggers a new contract for me, so as far as I’m concerned I will be here next season.

"I’m really enjoying it here and want to carry on playing as long as possible.

“We face Brentford this weekend and hopefully we can get a win and push for the play-offs, as it’s still a possibility.

“We have to have belief that we can make it. We have to keep going, keep working hard and see where it takes us.

“We have a really good squad here and with Didz and Bish back, that has been made stronger.”

Douglas has made 31 starts and three sub appearances and has scored three goals for the Blues.

This says it all for me - taken from Harrys research into the Brentford supporters thoughts - “It looks like he's been found out by their fans too. Douglas is one of those players who can just about get away with it when he is surrounded by more talented players but in an average side he sticks out like a sore thumb.”
There is more but fact is he was pretty much past it when he arrived and now he's here for another year!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one that has noticed that HE has done it NOT Mick. Even so what a downer to end Easter Holidays on! Hope he doesn't keep his place next season and rots in the under 21s!

hhmmmmm...So he's finally reached the amount of games he needs for a further extension on his 1 year contract, anybody else feel that Mick was quite conscientious of this and that's why he's started so often and 1 less player he has to add to the squad in the summer! and again saving money on signing on fees etc.

Bluemoss completely agree with you. Douglas is an accomplished footballer but I feel that we need to play him further forward to get the best out of him, got a few goals last season. The hysteria surrounding him is ridiculous
