Watch the Legends of the Past and Stars of the Future
Tuesday, 12th Apr 2016 10:05

Town fans have a chance to see the Ipswich Town Legends and the potential Blues stars of the future at a charity event at Bury Town’s Ram Meadow on Sunday.

The Ipswich Town Legends will be returning to Bury for a third year to play against Forget-Me-Not FC, a team made of football fans.

Matt Holland, Kieron Dyer, John Wark, Titus Bramble, Darren Currie and James Scowcroft are scheduled to be among the star attractions for the Legends, who will also have two fans in their squad, while the fans team is set to be managed by Terry Butcher.

"Before the 3pm kick-off, Ipswich Town U15s will be playing their Bury Town counterparts at 12.30pm with gates opening at midday and discounted tickets for those who buy before the big game.

"With two matchday experiences currently under auction, the event has already raised close to £4,000 for the ITFC Academy and the Forget-Me-Not Dementia Campaign, run by West Suffolk Hospital Charity.

"Dave Gooderham, communications manager at the charity, said: “The Legends game has become a popular event in the local football and charity calendar and we are indebted to Simon Milton and his fellow ex-pros for their continued support.

"“With the line-up of Legends on show, it promises to be another great day with supporters getting the chance to have photos and autographs with all their favourites.

"“With the auction of two fantastic ITFC experiences, donated by the club, and the opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow, we are hopeful that this year will be the best Legends charity event yet.”

"An auction offering fans the chance to bid on an unforgettable Ipswich Town matchday experience and also the opportunity to the Blues from their very own executive box has also begun, via the charity’s eBay site. For more information on the auction, visit www.wsh.nhs.uk/Charity.

"Discounted ticket prices for the day are also available with savings on adult, children and family tickets available from a special Just Giving page.

Tickets will also be available on the day of the big match with the gates at Ram Meadow opening at noon.

For more information on the Legends game, contact the Hospital Charity’s fundraising team on 01284 712952 or fundraising@wsh.nhs.uk.

The idea that we will have any stars in future looks extremely far-fetched given the nature of the current regime.

This is a very worthwhile and positive charity event.
