Touré Released
Friday, 6th May 2016 18:21

Town have confirmed that Guinean international midfielder Larsen Touré will be moving on following Saturday's final game at Derby with his one-year deal coming to an end and the Blues not taking up the option of a further season.

The 31-year-old made five starts and six sub appearances having joined Town last summer after a trial.

“Larsen will be moving on and we wish him well,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the club website.

You're started well, worked hard tracking back but we need younger quality attackers - like Brightons Anthony Knockheart. Will require ME to dig deep.

Not really a surprise. Nor am I surprised you didn't find much to put in the story about his time with Town. Will we be looking at getting any replacement retweeters in for him this summer?

Will be "fondly " remembered for taking the worst ever corner seen at Portman Road! Good luck Larsen

Such a shame, sorry to see him go, never forget him throwing his top into the crowd before ET at Doncaster and his comedy corner taking all the best Larsen hope you get a decent club soon.

Good that we are having a clear out. I can't see Douglas going seeing as he has trigged another year. We will need some cover with no emergency loans. We may have difficult moving Coke on with his 2 year deal. Any one know if that keeper Hanley (sp?) Is still at the club?

Didn't really see much of him but seemed a likeable chap. Wish him well.

Not many memories of this chap, but the performance at home to Birmingham sticks out - if I remember rightly he was a late replacement in the starting lineup? Man of the Match that night if my memory serves me correctly.

Never looked like being a long-term servant of the club but I wish him well. Did seem a good guy on the whole.

Hopefully this early clear out means MM will look to get in his summer recruitments early. Wishful thinking?

why pay wages of a player through the summer when most contracts don't start until late June / July?

Didn't get much of a chance...whenever I saw him play at Portman Road I was always very impressed ( apart from that corner!)

Good to see some more clear out of the older ones. Shame as he started quite promisingly but then faded to nothing. Just need to get rid of Douglas, Stewart and Hyam then all of my predictions for the leavers would have come true :)

@Mojo - yes Henly is still at the club

As in past years Mick looks like he's gong to be getting his squad together nice and early. Much better than previous managers who were scrabbling around to put a squad together in August. Well done Mick, keep up the good work.

Think this is a good decision and I wish Toure good luck in finding a new club. A little concerned at the timing as Toure was really considered a striker and this is the second striker we have lost in two days with no replacement as yet coming in. I thought Toure was a reasonably good player so may well find employment in League 1.

@the beat and mojo- the Coke situation will prove more complex as he does have an existing contract and we need another club to show interest. I know Yeovil at one point were interested but they don't seem so anymore. There were York rumours in less credible sights but doubt that given their plight.

Does anyone have footage or can provide a link to Toure famous corner? Much appreciated if you can help.

Refretwell. Agree but Kockheart didn't want to come here, remember??

Something about not wanting to drop down a division. More like would rather sit on the Leics bench raking in a huge wedge. Trust me he ain't gone to Brighton for Town wages!

Will Feeney be signed!! We need a couple more very decent midfielders if the youngsters don't get a chance, soonish as well mr Evans get your money out son

Not surprised as MM had a history of buying wingers and not playing them. To be honest for every good buy there seems to be a bad buy where he signs players and then doesn't play them . Don't think he's as good as he thinks he is as we have enough players but a weak squad. If there was real competition we might have more of a chance . Think the club should stop him wasting wages on b listers .

Agree Toure never got enough chances but from what we did see he clearly wasent good enough for a promotion squad. The clearance has begun. Agree with the beat Douglas and coke next. Doubt it very much we will see them go which is a real shame!

The revolving door continues to revolve..........

How many is that now, and they all cost wages I assume?

Surely a bit of "intelligent" investment is better than this continuing "scatter-gun" approach.

Vic. That's the exact opposite of how I view things. We've continually told players like Noel Hint we would wait and see before offering them a contract. Then they are not signed as MM has been waiting around to see what else he can cobble together. We have done early business in a long long time.
