Shelbourne Confirm Blues Friendly
Monday, 23rd May 2016 18:42

Shelbourne have confirmed that Town will be making their annual visit to Tolka Park to take on the Airtricity League First Division club in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 9th July (KO 3pm).

A game against the Dublin side has become regular fixture in the Blues’ pre-season preparations under Mick McCarthy following on from the squad spending a week training at the Carton House Hotel in County Kildare.

Town won last summer's match 6-0 with Brett Pitman scoring twice and Alex Henshall, Darren Ambrose, Cole Skuse and Jay Tabb once each.

In 2014 the Blues beat Shels 4-0 with the match the season before ending 2-0 to Town.

Midfielder Adam McDonnell will be facing his hometown club from whom he joined the Blues in the summer of 2014.

For a minute I thought this was one story that no one could possibly find a negative in but there we go. I would personally welcome a game against Fortuna again, preferably away in their 5,000 capacity training ground as the atmosphere was better than any home game this season at the library.

9th of July, not that far away and a summer of euro 2016 between now and then. Yes! Football!

I'm no mathematician, but this game has 0-8 written all over it.

Hope we can still arrange a little better
European fixture than this again -

Have seen Town on pre-season in
Holland, Denmark,Sweden, Belgium and
Ireland - All great trios and loved by all,

Frankly, the best chance of ever seeing
any European football.

I guess he's sat on the same chair at the table - for the last 15 years. No surprise there.

Suppose you need a nice gentle introduction to the new season,as from previous results that's all it is.
