Mings Linked With Town Loan Return
Friday, 1st Jul 2016 12:30

Former Town left-back Tyrone Mings is being linked with a return to the Blues on loan as he continues his recovery from the double cruciate knee ligament injury which ended his first season in the Premier League with AFC Bournemouth prematurely.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury minutes into his top flight debut for the Cherries following his £8 million move from the Blues last summer, having previously featured in a Capital One Cup tie.

Mings is now closing in on his return to action and, according to talkSPORT, the Blues could be among the leading candidates to take him on loan with Bournemouth understood to be willing to send him out for a spell while he gets back to full fitness.

Speculation that Mings could be returning to Portman Road began circulating on the TWTD Forum earlier in the week but the link has been dismissed by Town sources with Jonas Knudsen the Blues’ first choice left-back and youngster Myles Kenlock having been challenged to push the Danish international for his place by manager Mick McCarthy.

Mings made 49 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring one goal, having been signed from non-league Chippenham Town for £10,000 in December 2012.

Would be nice but can't see Mick replacing Knudsen even though I don't think he is good enough to be in a promotion team.

Also if people haven't already look at the released list from the Premier league. Some people that would be really good to sign up especially as we are sticking to frees again. Wages will be the biggest issue but there may be some people there we could fit in the budget, just a thought.

I would welcome him back with open arms. The pace and athleticism he offered out wide, as well as his ability to pick and execute a high quality pass would greatly help the balance of both the defence and the team.

Not for me , he would be holding back our players . I like him as a man and player but we have moved on and must continue our progress with our own backs . What would it do to the morale of our youngsters who are being urged to push on to find yet another barrier to stepping up .

Would have him back instantly. Great humble guy, good influence on the (even) younger players and an incredible athlete.

He has that tractor tyre as a memento of his time with us. Never leaves his side.

If utilised as a left winger or CB then yes, but LB is not a priority for us.

Would happily have him on the wing. Which is where he should play to realise his potential.

Can't see it. After a £8m move I'd imagine his wages have rocketed from what we would pay unless Bournemouth would pay most of it. Mick's been talking up Emmanuel and Kenlock so we're pretty covered in that position. Hopefully Bournemouth go and buy a few wingers so Fraser can become available again.

would be a good start but nowhere near enough. On paper I can't see where the chances are going to come from.

Absolutely no chance. What message would that send to drop Knudsen to play him so he can get some fitness for his parent club. With Webster joining he is not likely to get a game at CB either. More chance of resigning Jonny Williams.

I think a pre-season plus a one month loan could be useful to all parties. Any more than that could be counter productive. To paraphrase MM - he is better than we have already.

Centre back with webster once fit? that was where he was always supposed to end up

Sign him up & Play him left midfield, he was always better going forward!!

Even if there was anything in it, which as per the story there isn't, he wouldn't be able to come on a one month loan as they're no longer available. Half-season or season-long loans only this season.

Forget it. Bournemouth have lost Distin and Elphick at CB. There is little cover for Daniels at LB. He has gone - forget him.

Don't need him, move on!!! Knudsen and Kenlock are certainly fine at LB

I'm sorry but who woulndn't take him. Can't see it happening but 100% want him if available.

He's better than what we have - no brainer.

Some Town supporters.....head in hands

Special A is he though?? I found he used to get caught out of position too much, too far up field and had to be bailed out far too often. Wolves away on sky when we drew 1-1 he was terrible. That and he liked an aimless hoof up the pitch to no one!! He was 1 of the worst culprits. 8 million for him was brilliant business.

No point what so ever, can you imagine ME's thoughts when we've paid 350K for Knudsen only to be replaced by Mings on loan for a season! No progression there but maybe Mings to play on the right midfield?...crazy either way.

God Im not sure I could stand to watch Mings strutting around the park, the big I am, . (He was bad enough before he left us )!

A lot of people went OTT about Mings . Yes he's quick and althletic ( so could invariably recover from his errors) , but he wasnt a fantastic Left Back and not a natural "defensive" defender...(it was his unforced error that ultimately cost us Berra's sending off in the scum PO game ). Knudsen however is a more natural defender but not so natural at getting forward. So he if we have to Mings back Id play him infront of Knudsen

I wouldn't mind seeing mingsy as a winger. My favourite memories of him were his powerful runs up the line and it can give defensive support if you play mingsy ahead of either kenlock or knudsen. It sounds defensive but if used correctly could be a good threat of that's what mick has in mind (if this is true that is!).

I hope it's true Tyrone was a great character to have around
