Coke Closing in on Return to Action
Wednesday, 13th Jul 2016 12:04

Town are hoping midfielder Giles Coke will be fit for the start of the season having undergone knee surgery towards the end of what had been an injury-hit first campaign with the Blues.

“Giles tore the back of his cartilage and had surgery to repair it rather than remove the damaged cartilage,” physio Matt Byard told the club website.

“Hopefully he will be outside continuing his rehab in the next two weeks and the target is for him to be ready for the start of the season.”

The 30-year-old, who joined Town last summer following a trial having been released by Sheffield Wednesday, made only four starts — just one in the league — and 10 sub appearances during 2015/16.

Meanwhile, Byard says left-back Myles Kenlock could be fit for the friendly at Cambridge United after suffering an ankle injury early in pre-season

“Myles jarred his ankle in the first week of pre-season,” he added. “He is running on the AlterG and he should return to running outside next week.

“We are looking at the Cambridge friendly Saturday week as a return for him, hopefully.”

Don't get the negativity who does that help? Good luck Cokey prove the haters wrong. I trust MM judgement alot more than you moaners who have an opinion as mentioned above based on 4 starts half of you probably haven't seen him play!

I actually remember QPR away last season where he hewaa the best midfielder on the pitch besides luongo. Was winning everything and picking out some great passes. But the vast majority of the time seems he doesn't know what he's doing and looks a good stretch below this level. Although I'd rather keep coke than Douglas . I'd happily never see him play for town ever again. The guy is 10 yards slower than every one else on the pitch. All he does is foul. Can't pass to save his life.

Please mick approach this season just like every other manager in the world would start with one sitter and one creator . develop the Skuse and bishop partnership we saw the season before last!

MM has brought quite a lot of rubbish to this club.
Is this man the worst of all???

P JewellisaGod.Probably kept Coke as he has another season left on his contract, although must say I am surprised that Kevin Foley got only half a season which was up,and not renewed;despite Mick hinting that he might have retained him.

Seasider:
McCArthy's decisions often defy logic
I just hope he leaves his brain to science,
so in future they will be able to find / develop an antidote

This bloke is utter w**k and possibly the worst player I have ever seen to pull on the blue shirt! all the players we have let go over the past 3-4 years and paid up there contract?? Why not him? What does he offer?? Sweet FA!! He's laughing all the way to the bank.. 2-3k a week? Pay him up ASAP and let's get some quality in!

...... why does anyone expect anything else - a typical MM player - cheap, cheerful, and very likely to have confirmed he will play anywhere ( the all important ingredient ).

A player who couldn't be worse wherever he plays - scraping the barrel yet again, and the 'accept anything' brigade are already condoning such ........... wait for it !! PROGRESS.

All the signs are there that we are shaping up for a fantastic season, and serious push for promotion to the Premiership.

I'm also as pissed as a parrot - or at least acting like one with that statement.

The worst thing is, he has played more times for Ipswich Town than any of us ever will :-(
