Ward Move Permanent Deal
Monday, 1st Aug 2016 12:54

TWTD understands that Town's move for Tottenham midfielder Grant Ward is a permanent deal rather than a loan, despite the 21-year-old having signed a new contract at White Hart Lane in February. Earlier, TWTD revealed that Ward is the player the Blues are hoping to sign today.

The Blues are believed to be set to pay the Premier League club £500,000 for the Lewisham-born wideman or central midfielder.

Ward joined the Spurs academy as a 10-year-old but hasn't made a senior appearance for the Premier League club. He spent time on loan with the Chicago Fire in 2014 and Coventry City a year later.

Last season he made 35 starts and eight sub appearances while on loan with Rotherham in the Championship, scoring twice.

Not only are we developing youngsters through our own academy we're stealing Spurs' as well? For cash money?

How much credit goes to Marcus, Mick and Klug for this one?

Don't know much about him but sounds a good prospect.

I'm happier buying a promising youngster who is not yet the finished article than trawling around for out of contract and free transfer players.

Excellent news if this comes off. Better late than never I suppose and the view from a lot of Rotherham fans is that he's a very good player, and a winger finally at that! I just hope now we can sign up Kaikai on loan and then Sears can be played up top where he is most effective. Well done ME and MM if the deal happens.

Spurs fans saying he's nowhere near Prem standard and was destined for lower leagues. But what do they know eh?!

MILES better than our current option, so YES PLEASE!!

Onto the next..

Great news, i still found it hard to believe people weren't happy if it was a loan deal we signed him on.

Exactly what all the doom merchants have been crying out for. Permanent, young hungry winger. Let's see how many can put a negative spin on this one. Ready go..... Never seem him play, but good luck to him

This is what we want to see, paying out some money to get these kind of talents in, it doesn't have to be ridiculous sums,£500k can get us players like Ward.

Now we await the official announcement

Better.. Better mr Evans! We will never get anywhere signing loan players for a season! We need players who want to play for this great club on a regular basis! At 21 he will still be learning but I would much rather take a player of this calibre than a journeyman looking for his last pay day! He will have something to prove and I wish him well! Support are what these younger players need so if he has 2-3 bad games we shouldn't instantly say 'what a load of rubbish' bring on Barnsley! COYB

I know nothing about him but given the age and clearly seen as good enough for premiership football with Spurs this can't be a bad thing.
I'd much rather him than Feeney who flattered to decieve and is pushing 30.
On Saturday's showing I wouldn't be upset to sign Lemar as well.

Oh, I seem to be on the wrong site, I have stumbled into a parallel TWTD where there is optimism and positivity. How bewildering.

I find it hard to understand that if we are getting him from a Prem team for £500,000 as being reported, how come Webster was £700,000 + Matt Clarke from a League 2 team?

Seem to remember the Spurs fans saying the same about Clapham.

Excellent. How refreshing that we're buying a young player with potential rather than giving them back at the end of the year. Sounds very promising and McCarthy must like him to part with decent money. Well done Mr Evans, keep it coming!
