Town Set to Sign Everton Winger Grant
Thursday, 4th Aug 2016 12:11

TWTD understands that Town are set to sign 21-year-old Everton winger Conor Grant on a season-long loan.

Fazakerley-born Grant is expected to join the Blues in time to face Barnsley in the opening Championship fixture at Portman Road on Saturday.

Former England U18 international Grant, who can also play in central midfield, has previously spent time on loan with Motherwell and Doncaster Rovers but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Toffemen.

Sure he's a winger, always thought he was a CM?

Lots of questions about this one:

Are we assuming that Kaikai wont be signed now and this is the other man we try for or maybe both?
Is this gonna be a deal like the grant ward one where we assumed it was loan and became permanent?
Is he any good??
Also whats happened to Lamah he looked good from what i've seen of him?

Whatever the answers are I'm starting to feel a lot more confident about the coming season.

COYB!!

That's a new one!

Great to now have proper wingers and it will mean that Sears can play in his correct position.

This season is looking more promising than it did a few weeks ago.

Roll on Saturday!

i know football manager isnt a fantastic sourse, but his profile on their says his natural position is cm. dont want to be negative but would prefer kaikai or lamah. but this would still be a good signing so fair play mick ma

Hadn't seen that one coming... Mind you, we've had a few like this, with Mick doing his business quickly and quietly rather than the long drawn out sagas we've had in the past sometimes.
I don't know anything about the lad, so if it comes off, hope it works out well and he's a decent addition to the squad.

He's a winger that's played at Doncaster last season and up in Scotland before that. Just signed a new two-year deal with Everton. Very talented winger, not centre midfielder. Big chap. Provides fantastic crosses. Great signing. Well done Mick! COYB!!

Well b$gger me, 2 signings in a week and I have heard very good things about him, this season might just turn out alright! If they can integrate them into the team quickly

Does this mean we'll have a Grant on the left and a Grant on the right? :)

Odd signing this. Mixed reviews from Doncaster fans. Some say he has "flashes of genius and can be our best player on the day". Others say "doesn't do the basics" and "often away with the fairies during set pieces". He's been with Everton since he was 13 so he must have talent, but certainly not a goal scorer.

Different player to Mick's usual choice. So will be interesting to see how and where he fits in. Certainly more potential than our usual 30 plus freebies.

Love the way Mick does his transfer business, keeps it under his hat almost till they're snapped holding up a town shirt outside the world class training facilities.

He doesn't blab about players he's interested in primarily so as not to get supporters hopes up as many of them won't come to anything, but also so other clubs don't jump in with a better offer. Think them up the road could learn a thing or two about that...

My brother is an Everton fan. He says this lad is a more central midfield player than a winger.

Perhaps this is an additional signing and we can still expect Kaikai to come in?

Grant to the left of me, Grant to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with Skuse.

If anyone else watched the DVD that came with the season ticket, the goals compilation from last season was mostly Pitman, Murphy and Sears slamming home goals from great crosses (most notably from Ryan Fraser). I strongly believe that a vital cog to a winning team is strength down the wings so the fact we are looking to attract pacey skilful wingers is very positive!

Pretty underwhelmed hope he proves us wrong if we're looking for loans why aren't we looking for more proven quality like kaikai or ojo!!! Still think we might need one more wideman, hope Mick signs Lamah up saw him play against charlton he was class!!!

Great signing. He's played a lot of first team football for his age, and just signed a new contract last month.

Look for him to score on debut, he's done it in both loan spells!

Lamah is not the answer, his best days are behind him. Larsen Touré all over again...

From what I hear he was good at Doncaster last season. They said he impressed and wanted him back but he was way too good for league 2. Could become a good signing, I'm sure our scouts have been watching him regularly and have obviously seen something.

A lot of love on here for how McCarthy 'does his business quickly', it seems.

Just a word of warning though: two sh1t signings can be made quickly, just as they can be made slowly.
