Grant Pleased Loan Deal Finally Confirmed
Thursday, 4th Aug 2016 15:55

New loanee Conor Grant says his move to the Blues has been ongoing for some while and is pleased that it’s finally been confirmed. The 21-year-old has joined Town for the season from Everton, with whom he signed a new two-year contract last month.

“It’s been in the pipeline for a while now,” Grant told Ipswich Player HD. “I was just waiting on a few things to be sorted out and it got finalised in the week, so I’m really happy to be here.

“I had heard snippets [about a move] for a while, and I’m thankful to the manager for being able to bring me here.

“We had a good training session today and I’ve been welcomed very well by the lads. We’ve trained well and I’m just looking forward to getting going now.”

Grant, who will wear the number 28 shirt while with the Blues, will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s opening Championship game of the season at home to Barnsley.

Wonder if there's a release clause in that contract? Would be interesting to know if he's another player given a deal long enough to protect the parent club.

How do you mean, Mullet?

With the new loan rules, where they are only season long or 6 months, are call back clauses still allowed? Isn't that a loophole now?

Mullet means that as the loan is for a full season it would be interesting if someone for example came in for him in the January window would we have to release him .

Liverpool have release clauses if someone they have loaned out does not play 75 percent of matches. Its reviewed at the end of each month.

I suspect a winger and a right back and our business will be done. POSSIBLY

My appetite is now wet again and whilst i did not renew my season ticket i will be going tomorrow. Cant help it , love for the club greater than poor tactics and entertainment. Lets hope the entertainment factor is far greater than last year

JimmyJazz - full season loans cannot be cut short by the parent club. We had a similar situation raised with Fraser last season and confirmed it wasn't possible.

Hey Bluefeast

'love for the club greater than poor tactics and entertainment'

'I did not renew my season ticket'

Contradiction alert!

Also bluefeast fair play for going along to the Barnsley game but I'm not sure you'll see a lot tomorrow.

Surely a 6 month contract or half season means that, or am i being naive to think it means nothing
