McCarthy: Olympics Controversy Has Had No Impact on Preparations
Saturday, 20th Aug 2016 06:00

Town boss Mick McCarthy says the ongoing controversy surrounding owner Marcus Evans and his THG Sports hospitality company in relation to Olympic ticketing has had no impact on the Blues’ preparations for Sunday’s derby.

McCarthy says that from his perspective it's been business as usual: “It’s just the same. I’ve spoken to him about players and that’s it. Other than that, no.”

Evans is heavily involved in Town’s player recruitment, dealing with the financial side of moves, with the Blues likely to sign at least one player before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Irish Sports Minister Shane Ross has confirmed that an independent inquiry into the ticketing claims will take place.

A retired judge is set to be appointed next week with the aim that the inquiry is completed in 12 weeks.
