Samuelsen Joins Blackburn
Thursday, 25th Aug 2016 12:37

West Ham winger Martin Samuelsen has joined Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan. Town were among a number of Championship clubs keen on the 19-year-old Norwegian.

Town boss Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor watched Samuelsen in action for the Hammers’ U23s on Monday, while reports from Norway claimed the youngster was close to joining the Blues on a half-season loan.

McCarthy has said he is keen to add a couple of players to his squad before the transfer window closes next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, former Blues loanee Richard Chaplow has been banned for two games and fined by the United Soccer League for verbally abusing openly gay opponent Robbie Rogers in the game between his club Orange County Blues and LA Galaxy II on Saturday.

Rogers claims he was subject to a repeated "gay slur" during the match but Chaplow denied making such a comment, although admitted using "profane language" in a tweet.

Bad news, I had just asked a West Ham fan about him this morning who said he would be a great loan signing in the Championship

I suspect the influence of Morten Gamst Pedersen.

He obviously has ambition, wanting to join them rather than us.

3rd winger Blackburn have stopped us from getting this window alone! Im not surprised we didn't get him, we always take far too long to agree deals for players and other clubs come in and sign them with in a day or two of being linked. Same sh*t with every player we're linked with!

Or the fact we were never actually in for him

Like others have said more chance of playing every week there. Our 4-3-3 system wouldn't be ideal for him.

Not what we needed.

I'd rather a bit more experience in this position to be honest. The more experience alongside Bishop and Dozzell the better and the more experience in these positions will hopefully see Emmanuel and Kenlock get starts (wishful thinking)!

Good going there, boys.

I'd settle for Town signing a petition at this stage.

Unbelievable. What the hell do we as a club offer? A packet of peanuts and copy of Viz.

Time will tell if he turns to be a good signing. Wait and see who we do get before moaning about it.

Blackburn; a run down, dingy, smelly, rat run.

Let's not forget that we've just signed Conor Grant for the season who also plays left wing. I'm sure Mick will add at least a couple more before the transfer deadline, wouldn't be surprised if he does go in for the Palace boy

Barney -
Feaney and this lad but who else I can't remember?

You comment we take to long in sorting deals out??
Grant ward and Connor grant not even linked, we found out after they signed!
I think linked means we are not in for them, we let other clubs think we are trying so they sign them leaving less compitition for the players we do want.
Just a thought.

Alun Armstrongs boy Adam is the one we want.. Check out his goals for Coventry last season.. Newcastle willing to let him go on loan again.

Jesus, calm down, never even seen this lad play and apparently he was the answer to all our prayers, I was complaining at the start of the season, but grant, ward and Webster have all been good signings, he's going to get players in, hopefully a striker in my opinion but we can't get every player, he stays quiet on the players we want and then unveils them, im not McCarthys biggest fan but we've done alright this season, performances have been ok and there is somewhat a foundation there so stop just writing 'no ambition' 'McCarthy out', have an opinion or go support Man United or Real Madrid

Not too bothered. Could not get in Peterborough team last year. However, worried that others continue to build squads while we do nothing. Surely Leon Best is not good enough and won't be our only signing. Evans need to get a grip.

I wonder how much of the Evans ticket issues has had on his ability to attend to Football negotiations?

Did Mick ever say he was after him? Yes he was at the u23 game but who was he actually watching? Guess we will find out pretty soon.

Maybe he wasn't looking at anybody in perticular, he was just looking at to teams of youngsters to see if anybody would catch his eye!

Blackburn is a sinking ship but they have money. We are only a couple of players away from being competitive again. If we are going to play the 4-3-3 formation this season then I think Best would be a good back up to Murphy so we just need 1 more wide attacking option to cover for Ward/Sears/Grant. We've got 6 competitive centre midfelders for 3 places (Skuse, Hyam, Douglas, Bru, Bish and Dozzell) which is plenty. We also have defensive cover now in Smith, Emmanuel and Kenlock. Not sure where Pitman fits in though...? We almost have to plan for the season ahead without DM now, poor bloke.
