Grant to Miss Preston
Thursday, 25th Aug 2016 14:11

Midfielder Conor Grant will miss Saturday’s home game against Preston North End, manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed.

“It’s a bit soon for him, he’s been out training, not with the team with the physios and they were really pleased with him, but they just think it’s a bit too soon to be involved for Saturday,” he said.

“Bearing in mind I’ve got the team that can play anyway and we haven’t got a game for two weeks, it would be ridiculous if we rushed him back and he was out for two weeks again. No, he won’t be available.”

The Town boss says he has no new injury concerns: “Everybody’s fine, they’re all in good shape. We’ve no injuries from the Norwich game.”

David McGoldrick (ankle), Luke Hyam (knee) and Giles Coke (knee) remain on the sidelines.

Great news about no more injuries. I wondered whether Murphy would be OK following last week. He was struggling to move in the last 10 minutes of the game.

It seems like it was just tiredness which is not surprising bearing in mind how much running he was doing.

With Murphy struggling to last 90 minutes, Pitman apparently unsettled, I think Best could turn out to be a good signing

Bluebell - don't know about Murph being tired v Norwich, but Ward was going backwards for the last 20! Hardly surprising considering how much he put in in the first 70!

If someone wears himself out with twenty or so minutes left thats what the subs are for (i.e. fresh legs and lungs = Pitman and Dozzel but hand on we were just trying to draw 1-1.

I pity any Right midfielder - balls pinged over his head and running back to cover our RB

Need a PROPER RB
