Town Confirm Williams Back for Fourth Spell
Wednesday, 31st Aug 2016 15:47

Town have confirmed that Crystal Palace's Jonny Williams has rejoined the club on a season-long loan, his fourth stint at Portman Road.

Williams, 22, initially joined the Blues in February 2014 and became a big fans' favourite during the remainder of that season.

The Pembury-born midfielder, who is contracted to Palace until 2018, returned in the following September but had his spell curtailed by a thigh injury suffered in the Watford game in the November.

He came back to Town for a third spell late in that season but made only two sub appearances before suffering a recurrence of the problem in an U21s game.

Williams, who played for Wales at the European Championships in the summer, spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and with the MK Dons last season.

He suffered an ankle injury in pre-season but is expected to be fit to play in October.

I trust Pitman and Sears to find their scoring boots. They just haven't had any service. With the additions we have made maybe we will now make the necessary chances for our strikers to convert. Hopefully Best will prove a few wrong too?

Mick Mills -David Walliams is over 5'8" lol.

So pleased we have got JW back, which I have been banging on about for ages. Was surprised when he went to Forest and then MK Dons last season;but he is back now.

I know he is a bit injury prone, but like Fraser does receive rough treatment from opposing players, and by getting him in now, will be available for rest of season.

Midfield ball players tend to be less robust than other positions, and Mick should be able to rotate now if he wanted.

Wouldn't it be a laugh if he became the new 'Tinkerman'.Doubt if we shall see that happening;but then I didn't think that I should see Ipswich trying to play football under him either, which seems to be happening this season, although early 'doors',to use a big Ron expression.

Hope this will entice some of the fans back as well.

For one horrible moment I thought Clegg was back with a hair transplant when I saw that photo.
