Webster and Grant Replace Injured Smith and Sears at Derby
Tuesday, 13th Sep 2016 18:57

Adam Webster and Conor Grant replace the injured Tommy Smith and Freddie Sears for this evening’s game against Derby County at the iPro Stadium (KO 7.45pm).

Webster replaces Smith at the heart of the defence, while Grant will be on the left of the front three.

Derby also make two changes from the team which lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle at the weekend with Jacob Butterfield coming in for Johnny Russell, who has a calf problem, in midfield and Alex Pearce taking over from Jason Shackell at centre-half.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Webster, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Bru, Douglas, Ward, Grant, Pitman. Subs: Gerken, Emmanuel, Kenlock, Bishop, Lawrence, Varney, Best.

Derby: Carson, Christie, Keogh (c), Pearce, Olsson, Butterfield, Bryson, Hughes, Anya, Vydra, Wilson. Subs: Mitchell, Shackell, Ince, Bent, Baird, Johnson, Blackman. Referee: Stuart Attwell (Warwickshire).

Although we will never know, sounds like it may have been unchanged otherwise! Injuries mounting up. Another striker out. Bench certainly not looking as strong. Nonetheless we have a good record away to a average Derby side. I'm hopeful.

I bloody knew it.....if Smith and Sears were fit he'd play the same poor performing team that played at Reading...Not good enough Mick..
I've so had enough of this dinosaur..

North stand you're talking sh1te.

You have no idea he had no changes planned. He may have wanted to drop Sears and Smith anyway

That's 4-5-1 not 4-3-3 then. Playing for a point again.

Chambers, Bru, Skuse, Douglas and long throws from Knudson zzzzzzzz
Thank goodness for Grant and Ward
I'm sure it would have been unchanged otherwise and the faltering team that played at Reading would have been rewarded with another game
Neil Warnock please save us :)

The Romford Blue ..... Behave! Do you actually watch Ipswich much of course it would have been unchanged; McCarthy has his favourites and will always play them even if they aren't in the right position, Sears would have been dropped ages ago by another manager 33 games no goals for a striker aswell! Best forced changes we could have hoped for, bout time Sears wasn't playing as he has been rubbish for ages now, hard work doesn't make up for lack of quality I'm
Afraid. And smith was woeful at reading. Need a win tonight! Can't keep making excuses for all these performances and points dropped against team who aren't actually any good

In for an 'injured' Smith and Sears. I think that's MM telling us he's letting them rest at home rather than drop them to the bench. C'mon.. How often does Smith pick up an injury.

Good to see kenlock and Emmanuel back on the bench, would love it if either came on over the out of form full backs. Also don't buy that smith and Sears are injured after McCarthys comments. I think he's finally aware of fans continues abuse of his selections.

Wonder if Chambers will still be playing right back for Ipswich when he is 35?Expect he would be if we still have same Manager;but I will be nearly 80 by then;so wonder if I shall still be alive to see a different right back play for my beloved Ipswich Town lol ?!

Now the lawn. Out of form full backs? Yes, Knudsen made an awful error in giving away the penalty on Friday but he has been our best defender by a mile so far this season . While i agree Chambers is far from the best at rb, Emmanual is nowhere near ready for 1st team football. He's been murdered at times in the u23s and fear the same would happen in the 1st team . More 1 for the future than the present imo.

How can Chambers be selected tonight at RB. Shocking

Still the worst two fullbacks in the league. Still the slowest two CM in the league. Pathetic dinosaur

Hoping for a miracle please.

I thought Mick said the team came through unscathed after the Reading game?...so really enforced changes, quite a handy one for Mick with Smith injured, shame Chambers doesn't get injured more often!

Please Mick get Lawrence on the field tonight at some stage (not the last 5 minutes) and see what he can do.
