U18s Face Blades as Academy Undergoes Audit Friday, 14th Oct 2016 10:38 Town’s U18s are in action against Sheffield United at Playford Road on Saturday morning with the academy currently undergoing an audit (KO 11am). The young Blues will be looking to get back to winning ways after five games without a win. Town's youth set-up is currently undergoing an audit of its Category Two status. The Blues’ long-term aim remains Category One but an audit which would see the Blues move up a level won’t happen until next year at the very earliest. “They’ve been working very hard, particularly [academy manager] Lee O’Neill and [operations manager] Helen Broughton have done a fantastic job, lots of work,” MD Ian Milne told BBC Radio Suffolk’s Life’s a Pitch recently. “That audit now is highly technical with the sports science side and all the rest of it as well as the coaching. That’s taken a massive amount of time to put together. “I saw bits of the presentation and there are about 1,200 slides in it, for example, and there is a lot of written material.” He added: “They’ve made the Category Two audit much, much stronger. The detail is phenomenal. Even preparing for that is very expensive. “We’re happy where we are going for Category Two but the long-term aim is absolutely to go for Category One.” Meanwhile, the Blues U23s are next in action against Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Monday (KO 7pm).
