Blues and Derby Linked With Watford Striker
Monday, 9th Jan 2017 16:03

Town and Derby County are reportedly keen to sign Watford striker Jerome Sinclair on loan.

"According to the Daily Mirror, the Hornets are looking to loan out the 20-year-old, who they signed from Liverpool last summer for a compensation fee which could eventually rise to £4 million.

The striker, who was interesting Brentford in the summer with the Bees reportedly ready to renew their pursuit should Scott Hogan join West Ham, says he’s not thinking about a loan move, despite a lack of first-team chances since joining Watford.

"As a player I can want to play football, I enjoy playing football and I leave all that kind of stuff [transfers] to people around me,” he told the Hertfordshire Mercury.

"I try to not think about that type of thing. For me it was just about coming in, work hard and work on the things the manager asks me to."

Birmingham-born Sinclair has made only two starts - one in the Premier League - and four sub appearances since his move, scoring his first goal in Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup victory over Burton Albion.

The 6ft tall former England U16 and U17 international, who was with West Brom as a schoolboy, made one start and four sub appearances - two in the Premier League - for Liverpool, scoring one FA Cup goal, and also made one Championship sub appearance while on loan at Wigan late in the 2014/15 season.

I agree with Mark, Omar Bogle for a million seems a better deal if we could get him! This is the kind of deal Paul Lambert did to get Grant Holt and look how well he did. A natural goal scorer will always be the best type of player to get. This type of player will score in any league. BUT we still need a very good midfielder who makes a killer pass not like the the players we have who have little idea of where to put that kind of pass in!

It's getting boring building a new team every season and transfer window and going backwards.

Calm down all, it says linked with.
Basically it's common knowledge we need a striker and so lazy journalism at its best has us linked with every deal that might happen

Forget it people - the required interest from the head honchos at ITFC is not there.

Crowd levels as they currently are - 16th to 18th in the League - represents the ambition of the owner and capability of the Manager.

Happy Days - just don't expect more - just believe in the Manager.......... !!!!!!!!!!!

But don't renew your season ticket - or be tempted to pay turnstile prices - IN OTHER WORDS STAY AWAY YOU FOOLS.

Just like many of us already are.

Jas0999. I agree totally with but point about bringing through our own youngsters. However, it does seem odd that people are criticising us for wanting him on loan yet it's ok that derby want to also? And yes I understand that we rely more on loads than they do but they have more money than we do. U also like others think we're safe from relegation? Far from it. Should we lose against Blackburn we'd likely be 4 points from bottom 3. We then have games against the likes of Newcastle, Norwich, Brighton, derby coming up. So in 3 games time we could well be in the bottom 3 the way we're playing right now

Who in their right mind would want to come and play their football at PR at the moment?

McCarthy is making us a laughing stock - he's also killing my love for our club at the moment - change can't come soon enough.

if the rumours true, he will be off to Derby.

I see nugent has been signed for Derby as if they actually need another striker! 2.5 million. I expect we will go for a loan at £ 100.00 a week with an option to buy in the the summer for £100.000 . Perhaps I'm becoming cynical.

Sign Omar Bogle, Lloyd Isgrove, Danny Ward and Pack. Then a decent right back and Mings and Fosu-mensah on loan and hope Chambers stays but moves into the centre instead of Berra......I'll get my coat 😃

Another striker is all well and good, but if we're not creating chances from midfield then what's the point in bringing in another striker? We need to play creative and imaginative football, so our priority should be securing Tom Lawrence permanently (or someone of a similar standard) amongst others, and ensuring we play a style of football that creates the opportunities for our strikers to score.

Being a regular at Blundell Park watching Grimsby, I can guarantee you Omar Bogle is not the answer! Neither is he quick or aerially strong either. He'll be League One at best.

He doesn't look too bad here!

Looks like the sort of goal Lawrence would score but don't see many others in our team with the quality to ping one in the top corner like this!
Although Michael11 granted you've seen plenty of him so you're in a much better position to judge than myself as I've only just grabbed a couple of little highlights from YouTube, but even so, it's still 1 heck of a goal! I even remember Skuse scoring a screamer from outside the box many moons ago, if that was only the footage anybody had ever seen of Skuse they might think he was the Lampard of the Championship, but how wrong they'd be because he's not scored one since of any description!

In all fairness, we can't blame the club for all the players we are being linked to. This speculation is not coming from them. That these tactics work for the media is proven by the fact that we all come back hoping that something has happened since we last checked in.

Rumours rumours and more rumours, a different name every day.

It is pathetic really and treats us fans with no respect---other clubs just go out and sign players.

I have told the club of a dutch striker who has got 18 goals in 20 games and was recommended by my Dutch friends---needless to say we will follow this up-----dont hold yer breath!!

No-one of any quality will be arriving in this transfer window so there really is no point in even reporting who we are interested in. Just tell us when MM has gone.

@midastouch

I'd like him to prove me wrong. I'd be ecstatic if we signed him and he scored loads of goals but I see him as another Frank Nouble type player. Rumour up here is Rotherham had £850k rejected for him yesterday. Could mean that we'll buy Danny Ward if they have that money to spend.

Cheers Michael, appreciate the input and insights on a player I know next-to-nothing about. Personally I'd rather we just put all our eggs in 1 basket and sign Lawrence but I realise we're prob punching well above our weight there so we may need (or almost certainly will!) need to lower our horizons and look for value that is more in reach. If Marcus wanted it bad enough though he could afford Lawrence but it's clear he doesn't want it as anywhere near as much as us diehard fans! I realise he's the one that has to put his hand in his pocket but still, he has got very deep pockets! It's hard to see us being outbid time and time again for players of varying degrees of quality. I even remember that guy a few seasons back who turned us down in favour of Yeovil! And look at George Boyd, yet another one that got away! We've missed out by slender margins on so many good players down the years think Kevin Phillips and Charlie Austin :-(

1 player I'm very glad we did miss out on by the slenderest of margins is Ian Crook, what a ****er! Remember he signed and then he didn't! I used to call him chippy as all he was was a glorified midfielder budgie chipmeister! Some Budgies I used to know made him out to be like a Norfolk version of Glenn Hoddle, personally I didn't see anything of the sort!

Sky Sources understand Rotherham have rejected three bids for striker Danny Ward.

The latest bid is just under £2m.
