Lincoln Replay Live on BBC One
Tuesday, 10th Jan 2017 16:04

Town’s FA Cup third round replay against Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Tuesday 17th January will be shown live on BBC One. The game moves to an 8.05pm kick-off as a result.

The Blues drew 2-2 with the Vanarama National League leaders at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking after that match Imps boss Danny Cowley said he hoped the replay would be selected for broadcast live.

“We’d love that, we had the television for the Oldham game," he said. "It’s money that’s massive to us as a club. It makes a significant difference.

“If that was to happen that would obviously be great and would just add to what should be a really good replay.”

Each club will receive a live broadcast fee of £72,000 with the winners of the game, which will go to extra-time and penalties if not settled in the 90 minutes, claiming a further £67,500 from the FA prize fund.

The winners of the replay will face Championship leaders Brighton and Hove Albion at home in the fourth round.

The Blues, with whom manager Mick McCarthy is yet to win an FA Cup tie since taking charge in November 2012, last reached the fourth round in 2010, while Lincoln City most recently made it past the third round in 1976.

Well that's the nail in this years FA Cup coffin for us!...hoped this wouldn't happen, saying that IF we do lose the nation will become more aware of the poor job MM is doing currently.

Get down the bookies and stick 25 notes on Lincoln double quick. That should balance out the feelings either way.

Great news for Lincoln. I'm sure 72k for A non league team is very welcome - potentially another 67k if they go through. Think we'll win it though.

Why have BBC chosen this tie, they expect a technical giant killing, it would make great telly, I remember Hereford v Newcastle was a great result for the neutral.

Open letter to everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club.....
Do not let the fans down by losing this game. The club is at level of ability similar to the Duncan era and we do not want the club to be the laughing stock live on TV.
You must win.

McCarthy will have a plan for this then :-

TOTAL rearguard action expected - everyman behind the ball.

NO shots on target allowed - anyone being disobedient will be taken off.

McCarthy's instructions :- Let's hope we can hold them thro' full time and extra time by following the above - and remotely hope we can nick it on PENALTIES. But if we don't, after all, they are a good side don't forget - which is what I said after the first leg.

And the saga will continue - until the crowd figures drop to unacceptable levels, when action will have to be taken...............

I think we might win this. We have had a look at them, they played their best and still couldn't beat us. Money put aside for the Brighton ticket.

Anybody would think the BBC are expecting a "shock"! Mind you, it's difficult to know what the shock outcome would actually be! Perhaps it could be MM having a leopard changing it's spots awakening and playing two strikers, two attacking midfielders, one holding midfielder, two out and out wide men with little responsibility for tracking back and becoming supplementary full backs, leaving a back three defence to do what defenders always used to do, defend! (i know what my back three would be, but that's for another time, and it aint going to happen anyway!)

So, winning this game alone is now worth 139,500. Add to that potential ticket sales for clash with Brighton which could amount to about to between 100-150,000. So we could be talking between 240-290,000 to win this match, even if we then lose against Brighton...that's huge incentive for us. Unfortunately it's also a huge incentive for Lincoln City.

We have always faired better with the BBC than Sky but admittedly that was two decades ago. Saturday was always going to be a banana skin waiting to happen just as it was for Liverpool against a League 2 team. As Premiership clubs Newcastle, Coventry, Leeds etc have all been turned over by non league clubs and that's the beauty of this competition. The replay will be tough whatever team is selected but I have no problem with Gerken being in goal and Skuse in midfield. The latter was missed on Saturday. All we need is for everyone to be fired up and play with desire and passion.

The money should be re-invested into paying for our fantastic away support to attend the game as some sort of an apology for the absolute embarrassment we are currently being put thru.

Fans attending: Lincolns support put us to shame on Saturday. Lets show them what a great Club we are (or used to be) and sing our hearts out and support the boys. However, if the the performance and result puts us to shame on national TV, i think we are well within our rights to use said voices to call for MMs resignation.

Things are desperate and embarrassing. For it to happen live on TV will send us over the edge.

Forget the replay.! My question is 'When are we going to sign anybody' MM quoted he was aiming to get players in early, well we are a third through the month and all we get is 'Town and loads of other clubs are chasing so and so' My question is 'Will we ever catch them'.!!

Lets hope MM rests vital players, we get beat 3-0 and he resigns in disgrace?

I'm so pleased for Lincoln, the money from the TV revenue will be substantial for them, and they thoroughly deserve it. Us on the other hand have absolutely no right to go into the 4th round after the dross we played AT HOME.

This is really scary. I've got to tell the missus there's no Holby City on Tuesday. I can hear her post match comments now: 'I can't believe they took Holby off for that sh1te!' Or 'We played well, is red and white stripes the new away kit?'

This bloody FA Cup has come at the wrong time. We were starting to hit a bit of form and confidence with the Bristol City and QPR games with Mick finally starting to pick more balanced formations (why oh why oh why we haven't played 3-5-2 form day 1) and we draw a high flying non-league team. We were on a hiding to nothing! We really need another good performance against Blackburn...

The BBC have twigged that neither club is from Manchester or London right? I didn't think they were allowed to cover such footballing outposts at a stage where the "big boys" were involved?

Like most others I will be dreading it, please ITFC show some passion and pride!

See there are quite a few free transfers over 33 waiting for you to sign them up MM!

Kevin Nolan, Emmanuel Adebayor, Simao Sabrosa, Jermaine Pennant, Kieron Richardson, Joey O'Brian, Steven Taylor, Carlton Cole, Robbie Keane, Joleon Lescott, Charles N'Zogbia, Kevin Kuranyi, Raul Meireles to name but a few. Surely somebody from the free transfer list is good enough to play for Ipswich Town and generate a much needed morale boost? Over 150 deals done already, and we have only been involved with 3 deals (marsden, Benyu, Varney)

Hopefully an embarrassing defeat. Surely MM will have to go then. Please.
