Lincoln Replay Live on BBC One
Tuesday, 10th Jan 2017 16:04

Town’s FA Cup third round replay against Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Tuesday 17th January will be shown live on BBC One. The game moves to an 8.05pm kick-off as a result.

The Blues drew 2-2 with the Vanarama National League leaders at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking after that match Imps boss Danny Cowley said he hoped the replay would be selected for broadcast live.

“We’d love that, we had the television for the Oldham game," he said. "It’s money that’s massive to us as a club. It makes a significant difference.

“If that was to happen that would obviously be great and would just add to what should be a really good replay.”

Each club will receive a live broadcast fee of £72,000 with the winners of the game, which will go to extra-time and penalties if not settled in the 90 minutes, claiming a further £67,500 from the FA prize fund.

The winners of the replay will face Championship leaders Brighton and Hove Albion at home in the fourth round.

The Blues, with whom manager Mick McCarthy is yet to win an FA Cup tie since taking charge in November 2012, last reached the fourth round in 2010, while Lincoln City most recently made it past the third round in 1976.

It's got all the ingredients for TV, unless you happen to support Ipswich Town. For us it's going to be an uncomfortable two hours (+) in front of the TV. Suddenly our allocation of 1,800 tickets for the replay looks huge. Injuries will give Mick little choice on team selection. To make a point (I mean, from MM to ME - although I actually think MM has given up on trying to attract new signings due to competition from other clubs - can't be bothered any more as everyone hates him so much), we may not pick a full bench of subs. Snow is on the way, orange ball, Lincoln supporters perhaps clearing the white lines to get the game on. Regardless of ability, the desire to progress in the Cup comes from the manager. We have seen this, season after season, with Mick. With the exception of the visit to Villa Park, which was a close game against a Premier League team, we have looked like a poor fourth division or non-league team in the Cup for a few seasons now. There is a trickle down to all the players of the lack of ambition. May need Bart to save a few penalties - but of course Mick won't now be brave enough to go back to Bart for this game after making a point of picking Gerks for the Cup. Because it then looks like he made a mistake initially picking Gerks. Why not pick the keeper for the replay based on penalty kick saving in training? I assume we're going to practise penalties? I once saw a penalty shoot out at Portman Road where we won only 2 - 1 on penalties, may have been against Luton Town, so, not a great record with the spot kicks. It takes skill, experience, luck and nerve. Also, once our Mickey Mouse 'Full Members' cup game with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge went to penalties, I knew we would lose. David Linighan missed a penalty, don't get me wrong, I was a great fan of his. I don't remember any other penalty shoot outs, certainly none in the FA Cup. Our record in this competition is so poor. COYB, we need to win this, whatever it takes.

Like PinkMist, who got down voted, I am also pleased its on TV so can watch from comfort of armchair with cup of tea etc;but good luck to you 12th man and all the other diehards who will be at Sincil Bank next Tuesday!I was like that in my younger days, and was lucky to watch better footie, most of time.Don't get me wrong, have only missed about half a dozen home games in 50+ years;but was sorry to hear that Cornard Blue ,who like me has been going for half a century is now wavering, and he is not alone.

I doubt however that Flashblue,Mark or therein61 will get their wish and see Bart play, don't forget that Gerks is one of Micks favourites;who Bart has been keeping out with his performances.Though not quite so good of late!

More likely as Stow Tractor boy and Bert predicts Gerks plus Skues, and possibly another favourite Dougie will strut their stuff !!!

I want us to win as usual, for as Cornish Blue says the money will be handy towards signings ,which Martin587 points out have yet to make with only 2/3 rds of window left.No early signings as promised.

If this is because the Dino is about to be replaced, then well and good.I would even put up with a defeat to Lincoln,if this resulted in this event.

Otherwise COYB

Many of us have been supporting ITFC for well over 50 years through thick and thin and it's such a shame that it's all boiled down to this unrest at the club we all love.
Ever since JIM left as manager the club has slowly slipped into decline and now the matter is getting very serious with a toxic atmosphere at home matches a regular occurrence.
It is not nice to hear and see especially for the younger supporters with there parents.
I ask myself why is this and the reason boils down to two individuals, they being the owner who is non exsistent and a manager who refuses to play attractive football and totally boring tactics, need I go on.
These coming few matches hopefully will give us some idea as to how this club will progress under this management.
For the supporters sake let's just hope we can get two wins in our next two matches and kick on from there, and hopefully with a change of manager, but then that's just wishful thinking on my behalf.!!

We can only hope for the heaviest snowfall in centuries and solid frozen pitches for the next three months
Maybe by the thaw we will have a new manager and some pride back in the players attitudes

Dont be scared of the curse of TV folks. BBC showed our wins in the Texaco Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA CUP..........

So.......

Not much point trying to win any of them again is there Mr Evans ?!
