McGoldrick Injury Not Serious
Wednesday, 11th Jan 2017 21:46

Town have confirmed that striker David McGoldrick’s hamstring injury should only keep him out of action for a couple of weeks. The Republic of Ireland international suffered the problem in training on Friday and missed the FA Cup draw with Lincoln City on Saturday.

“Didz will be out for the weekend and the cup replay [at Lincoln on Tuesday],” Manager Mick McCarthy told the club site.

“He had a scan yesterday and fortunately it’s not too bad. We are probably looking at another week or two.”

McCarthy says skipper Luke Chambers and midfielder Cole Skuse, who both missed the Imps clash with knee injuries, should be back for Saturday’s home game against Blackburn, but left-back Myles Kenlock remains a doubt with the calf injury he suffered at QPR.

“Hopefully Chambo and Skusey will be back for Saturday and we see how Myles is,” McCarthy added.

Meanwhile Tommy Smith and Luke Hyam, who are undergoing rehab after back and knee surgery respectively, are back out training, playing head tennis and running.

The duo are pencilled in for a return to action in the U23s in February, which was also the expectation with midfielder Teddy Bishop, who has been out with an ankle injury, however, McCarthy now hopes the 20-year-old might be back in a fortnight.

That's a relief, as with Murphy sold and Varney released a long-term injury to McGoldrick would leave us desperately short up front.

Time to bid for Omar Bogle, who has scored 18 and set up 5 in League Two already this season.

The decision to get rid of Varney with no replacement lined up yet again, looks even more woeful. Let alone the Murphy debacle. Poorly run club.

Thats Mcgoldrick out for a month then before a first team starter again,Hyam not good enough late tackler,Bishop gone backwards from what he was,Smith will replace Berra for better or worse remains to be seen,,so not to much to get excited about, forgot about Giles Coke our resident blue coat/boot cleaner/car valeter.

Dids 2 week injury normally means months , Varney would have been be no good JAS as he is injured again anyway !!
We desperately need an attacking scoring driving central midfielder like Bradley Dack to take the emphasis off the strikers from scoring at present we are far to easy to defend against and let in stupid goals a recipe for disaster
Try playing Sears up front for a prolonged run in the team , more than capable scorer for this league , and try and get the best out of Bishop and Dozzell by giving them the same amount of playing time as Skuse and Douglas rather dropping them after 1 game good or bad , not great for a youngsters confidence

Am I alone in not being too bothered by McGoldrick being injured again. Over the last 2 years or so what has he really contributed to the team. Yes he can be very good but I think he is becoming a bit too selfish at times. I would rather see Sears up front where he should be as he is probably more of a threat with his pace.

Also I think we need Skuse back in the team. We miss him when he is not playing. He may not be the most creative but I would bring him back alongside Bru/Bishop when fit and use Dozzell as an impact player.

It's McGoldrick, he'll be out longer than 2 weeks

pleased to hear it, but believing it is another thing , He is injury prone and although skilful, is unreliable and when his time out through injuries is taken into account, unfortunately has been a costly acquisition, That said ,hopefully he will get back to full fitness quickly.Good luck to him .

Anyone remember Micheal Owen's Cruciate knee injury? He went on to have numerous hamstring injuries, because they are linked. Sick Note Didsy will be just the same. I honestly hope we sell him in the summer. Like Williams , he's a waste of wages at a Club that has little finances to play with.

So presume Josh will be dropped yet again for the useless Chambers. Full backs Chambers and Knudsen, Skuse back. All we need is Douglas to make it a great day out. When will he realise these players are taking us down. It does not work!!!!

Any conspiracy theorists might suggest this is so he is not cup-tied and available for any "deal" up to 31 January?

Cant remember the last time Ipswich had so many injuries in a season;so this must seriously hamper the manager.
From what he said in todays interview he has a dozen unavailable;but has now included non first teamers as well. Then of course there are the likes of Giles Coke who I doubt would get into the first team even if fit.Not sure if Best is fit,or just out of favour.

Certainly need two or three additions now and a big clearout of dead wood in the Summer.Lets hope we are still in the Championship.

Sick Note .......... far better option than playing in a non competitive team formation.

jason0999 ........ as much as we hate to admit it - the whole Club is a SHAMBLES.

And we ALL know it. Some just can't accept, admit, or recognise it .... !!!!
