Blues Among Clubs to Send Scouts to Watch Bogle
Saturday, 28th Jan 2017 19:32

TWTD understands Town were among a legion of clubs to send a scout to watch Stevenage beat Grimsby 2-0 this afternoon with Mariners striker Omar Bogle likely to have been the reason for their trip.

Bogle, 24, has been linked with a host of Championship clubs during this transfer window including Rotherham, who are reported to have had a number of bids rebuffed, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Reading.

The former Solihull Moors striker has scored 19 times this season for the League Two Mariners, having netted 16 goals as the Lincolnshire club won promotion from the Vanarama National League through the play-offs last season.

Town are keen to add another striker to their ranks before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, however, manager Mick McCarthy has been targeting frontmen with Championship experience including Jordan Hugill, who scored Preston’s equaliser this afternoon, and Rotherham’s Danny Ward.

Marcus Evans - Get this done! This is exactly the type of player we need. Time to show how committed you really are.

At the end of the day,I would rather we get nobody than make a desperate panic buy and sign a dud.
Best we up our bid and go for a proven striker.Just a thought.!!

Went to that game today and he was woeful. So lazy not a typical MM player. Don't expect us to be following this up

@Crackersjackers

I wasn't there today but seen him 20-30 times and he's 100% not up to Championship standard. Also a very lazy player that I can't see McCarthy liking the look of. I'm all for scouting the lower leagues but his goal scoring record this season is flattering him in my opinion.

Remember him playing against the School team I coached aged 12/13, (I now work at the school he went to - his cousin was in my tutor group a couple of years ago!) he stood out then, bit selfish as the rest of the team weren't as good!! -

Not familiar with him to be honest. But posters comments above - who have seen him - don't exactly give a good assessment! Sounds like we should be looking for better.

Only seen him once. Was largely missing throughout the game and then produced a clinical finish in the 83rd minute. But up to that point forgot he was on the pitch.

I was also at the game and he was terrible. Not sure if the transfer talk is getting to him but he looked lazy and frankly not up to it.

I'd rather have a lazy player that scores 19 goals in a season than a grafter like Skuse that scores none! He can walk round on zimmer frame for all I care providing he keeps scoring! I've never seen him play 90 minutes so can't comment but I do watch Goal Rush and I've seen him score some crackers on there so he can't be all that bad! But granted it's a lower level, however, I bet he could still score more goals in a Championship season than half of our current strikers!

Remember Jimmy Greaves, he was a lazy player, didn't stop him netting a bag full of goals. Just saying

Rotheram last bid was £800.000 for him.. 1.2 million to whoever buys

Although he scores goals we need a striker with a physical presence that can hold up the ball which apparently isn't Bogle so not expecting him to be here

Doesn't sound like he works hard enough for MM to be interested;bit like Leon Best with goals.

don't know about him ,but he has scored a few,if he is lazy he could wait up field and Dougy, Skusey, Knudsy, or one of the uvversy's can hoof it up t him , he'll do ya Micky.

He is a goal scorer, I remember Le Tissier was a "lazy" player. Maybe a step up would do him good, he wouldn't the the big fish in small pond and would have to prove himself. MM tries to bring in good characters with something to prove. Like others have said, Patterson or Morris should be given a chance , with Pits, Sears, Didz and Moore, it would be low risk to use one of own as a back up.

@Brian_a_mul

He didn't play for most of the first half of last season due to his attitude problems and lack of work rate. Not a McCarthy type of player to me.

Get in Mikael Mandron from Eastleigh.

Striker 6ft 3 or 4 good scoring record, 22/23 and French.

Can't be bad and worth a shot. Ex Sunderland player.

What load rubbish people come out with,saying the lad is lazy dosent put in 100%.Bogle has played 27 league games scored 19 goals and 5 assists. So direct involvement in 24 goals in his 27 games.Grimsby have scored 35 goals all season.So only 11 goals in which he didn't have direct involvement. Not too lazy if you ask me, what more do they want from him!The player is sort after by most teams in championship seems no brainer!
