Town Hoping Taylor Can Face Derby
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2017 16:52

Town are hoping that new central defender Steven Taylor’s international clearance will come through in time for him to be available for this evening’s game against Derby County.

The 31-year-old, who has been handed the number two shirt, signed a contract with the Blues which runs to the end of the season yesterday but wasn’t expected to be available until Saturday with international clearance required as his previous club was US side the Portland Timbers, who he left at the end of last year.

Town are understood to have stepped up their attempts to get the paperwork on Taylor’s ratified with skipper and fellow centre-half Luke Chambers having been targeted by his former club Nottingham Forest ahead of this evening's 11pm transfer deadline. Talks regarding that proposed deal are still understood to be ongoing.

Whatever the outcome of Chambers' situation, I can't see his head being right to play tonight. With Smith and Webster out, I understand why they want Taylor available!

Come on town, where are the new signings? Other clubs are buying strikers, so what has happened to all the players on the big list that McCarthy handed Evans in December?!

Ah well we shouldn't worry now then. Chambers will go to Forest and the ready made cheap replacement who is lacking fitness and game time will step in, in a very important game when 3 much needed points are at stake. Everybody will be happy, including Chambers I'm sure.

Whilst I'm sure he'll be decent, I'd rather trust Digby tonight who goes into this game with more game time

The move away could be at Chamber's request. With 6 months left at ITFC plus a possible extra 12 months if we exercise the option we have, he might be offered a longer contract at NFFC and therefore be pushing for the move himself.

Either way not a great move by ITFC but maybe, possibly one that isn't their doing.

By the way, still not happy with the lack of signings in general, for that I do blame ITFC and all that sails within her !

Assuming Chambers and Taylor can't play tonight, I guess Digby will start. Does this make Kieffer Moore our back up centre half on the bench tonight?!

Chambers is gone... Good luck to him. Taylor is a much better player, assuming that he is anything like his old self... Good luck to him too. And good luck to Emmanuel and Spence... One of you will be our first choice right back next year.

If we sell Chambers with no replacement, then I'm on the verge of nor renewing my season ticket. It's all get rid and then panic. Taylor isn't fit. It's disgraceful.

.......... and Taylor wouldn't be match fit, therefore yet another diabolical scenario - but of course, a ready made excuse for defeat if it happens - which we all know would be pounced on by some.

If international clearance comes in, Evans is hoping to sell Taylor on for a quick profit before the window closes.

........ there is NO interest from the 'top' of this Club - for doing anything methodically or correct anymore.

It's ALL and EVERYTHING about counting the Evans beans - and 15,000 including season tickets will ensure status quo for ever and a day.

And you think I'm joking ? ....... I'm NOT.

hope that those who can still bother to go to the match tonight get behind the team BUT ALSO let Evans and McCarthy no that they are the problem not the players .
