Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices
Friday, 17th Mar 2017 06:30

Town’s season ticket prices for 2017/18 focus on persuading young fans back to Portman Road but adult season ticket holders face a price rise of 1.5 per cent - unless the total of seats sold hits the club’s 12,750 target which would see all season ticket holders receive a five per cent refund.

The Blues have introduced a new under-23s price band which will see a seat in the lower tier of the Sir Bobby Robson or Sir Alf Ramsey Stands cost £230 if bought prior to the early bird deadline of midday on Monday 17th April.

The concession previously available to under-16s will now be available to under-19s, who will be able to buy a lower tier ticket before the early bird date for £125.

The £10 season ticket for under-11s has been scrapped, in part due to abuse with some fans buying tickets “just so they could have a seat in the Family Enclosure or have an empty seat next to them”, but there is a £50 season ticket available to those aged under 12.

Town have launched a new reward scheme as part of that ticket which will see young fans receive £2 in TeamCard points for every match they attend. If they're at all 23 Championship home games, they will get points worth £46.

An adult lower tier season ticket bought prior to the early bird deadline will cost £423 compared with £417 this season, an increase of 1.5 per cent.

However, the Blues will give all season ticket holders a refund of five per cent if the total of season ticket sales - including concessions - reaches 12,750 by Friday 4th August.

Town have increased the age at which fans are entitled to a senior citizens concession from 60 to 65 in line with other clubs.

Those currently paying a senior concessions price for a season ticket but will be 64 or younger on Thursday 10th August will have to switch to an adult ticket but their seat will be subsidised by 50 per cent for the season ahead. The 800 supporters affected by this change will be contacted directly by Town.

Town will be continuing the interest-free 12-month Direct Debit payment scheme, while they have scrapped admin fees for purchasing season tickets at Planet Blue or by post.

The Silver and Gold membership schemes have been revamped and a new Ultimate membership scheme has been introduced.

Town are yet to announce their matchday prices but we understand they’re set to be largely frozen for the most part but as with season tickets with reductions for younger supporters.

We also understand the £2.50 additional charge on tickets purchased on matchdays will be dumped.

If Town are relegated to League One, we understand season ticket prices will remain at the levels above but matchday pricing would be reduced.

Season ticket packs will be posted from Thursday 23rd March before they go on sale from Monday 27th March.

You can see full details of Town’s season ticket pricing for 2017/18 and the new membership schemes on the club site here.

I gave up my Silver Membership at the start of this season and saved £30-00, money well saved as strangely I have had no problems getting a ticket for any matches this season!

This is the problem ME now has, why bother with a season ticket when it appears there is no chance of Premier League football in the foreseeable future. Gone has the fear of giving up a season ticket and missing out on Premier League football the following season, or even a Wembley playoff final.

The outcome for next season will be attendances of 10-12 K with even less investment coming into the club, which will equal less investment in the squad. Expect more signings from the non-league or loans from other Championship Clubs.

We need a new owner who is prepared to invest more money into the club and to get rid of the dead wood of MM and Milne. An owner who is also not faceless but to act as a leader and bring the club together.

I certainly will not be getting a Silver Club ticket etc...quite simply there is not the supply and demand for me to do so!

I have been a season ticket holder for 55 years and with a heavy heart it may well be my last, but this does not mean I am not a true supporter as some posters say.
The way this club is being run by an invisible owner who cannot show his face and say what his intentions are for the future of OUR club and the dire management is total contempt of the club and an insult to the supporters. These I'm sure are the thoughts of a great many supporters of this club and until we hear of his future plans my season ticket is in doubt.
I will be going to Cardiff tomorrow because I love my club, but this will be must last away match this season.

things that should of been done for 2017-18
a....anybody in the 60-65 price bracket with a current season ticket should be honoured at original price

b....discounts for people with season tickets for 10 years..ie 10 % then for every year up to a maximum of 25 years an extra 1 % thus giving the lifelong season ticket holder some reward for there loyalty.
c...3 or 4 vouchers with every season ticket so they can bring a friend/relative along.
d...free entry to home cup ties for first 3 rounds for season ticket holders..as the club obviously don't budget for cup runs they won't miss out on revenue

My wifey and I are gobsmacked at the crass treatment of loyal town supporters. Especially like ourselves the 60+ age group. We have sat through many dire matches this season and last and we were still considering renewing but this kick in the teeth has tipped us over the edge and we'll NOT BE RENEWING our season tickets we've held for many years.
Not sure of the legality of changing a confession once stared on, as we feel if your already on that scheme you shouldn't be forced off just so that they can fleece us more.
Like others we were lucky to have witnessed the Robson era and to see our club managed by faceless people who have no feeling or love for our club beggars belief.
The stadium is starting to look shabby. Toilets, especially the ladies are disgusting, food and hot drinks are overpriced and barely edible. Could go on but it's too upsetting. Whilst our club is owned and run by this band of faceless people we are going nowhere but down.

Fully agree to the above comments, I acted two years ago and have not seen town play for two years now.

Yet have to wonder if town had slashed ticket prices how many would go and moan about the crap football and then moan as the club are not spending money on players.

At the end of the day its the players wages that cause the ticket prices to be so high, its just how football is now

Even if they let me in for free I would not go to watch poor football week in and week out, I have a life so save your money and go take the wife out or go somewhere with the kids or even go to the pub and blow it on beer and chips and watch the top 5 prem teams week in week out on the tv.

The analogy of a dodgy restaurant and "football" at Portman road is a good one. The season ticket and match day ticket prices clearly can not be justified. If the owner and management feel they need to "fall into line" with most of our rivals the ticket price should be REDUCED as most of our rivals are cheaper. Its another "Heads in the sand" approach to think that over 12750 season tickets may be sold, I am not counting on getting a rebate! What would be good is to adopt the Huddersfield way, change manager reduce prices, create a feel good factor and be 3rd in the league!.

I wrote to the club commenting on poor management and no entertainment I told them I would not renew my season ticket if I wasn't given assurances about the way the club was going forward I had a reply telling me how to cancel my season ticket just shows how much they are concerned about the fans .
Now this people should all give up there season ticket to let ME know how much we despise what is happening at this once great club.
We have a faceless owner and a moronic manager Milne, McCarthy and Evans OUT

So, if I've read and understood the new pricing structure correctly, those of us 60-64yrs will not actually be paying much of an increase this season taking into account the 50% subsidy on the new adult price, but will have to pay the full whack next season until we reach 65 (unless or until they increase that in line with pension age, ie: 66 or 67 ....). Seems a strange way of increasing the age for concession prices to me. At least the Government increased the pension ages on a sliding scale.

I wonder if 200 (or more) of the 800 of us will not renew, thus making the increase in income a decrease?!

I will more than likely renew, but more for social than footballing reasons.

This is becoming a snowball effect.

Fans pay overpriced tickets. Fans are upset the team is losing. Fans losing heart. Bad atmosphere.
Bad atmosphere, team loses heart, loses games.
Team loses, high ticket prices, no investment from owner. Fans leave.
Team playing to half empty stadium. Team losing heart.
Less fans show up as team is losing heart. Less fans, less money, weaker team.
Weaker team, more losses, less fans show up.
Season ticket prices announced and they have gone up.
Less fans, less team money, more losses, worse team.
2018 - 2019, raise ticket prices again to combat those not renewing, but punishes those who do.

How can Evans not see that this is a completely unsustainable model? Fix the damn prices. This is lunacy.

I am not against a price-rise, but I strongly object to paying a lot more to sit in the upper tier. I'm sure they don't charge people who go to Liverpool's Kop for instance more to be at the back than the front, neither do you pay more to sit at the back in the cinema. We are all watching the same game! I'm moving lower this season on principle.

I can not believe what i woke up to this morning!! We have had to put up with all this dross all season and now they expect us to pay more to watch it, not going to happen I'm afraid. It's all well and good making decent priced tickets for youngsters but think they have missed the point and failed to realise that they have to go with an adult. This club is starting to become laughable. I do wish that they would be honest for once and tell us exactly how many supporters are in the ground for a home game because there certainly isn't 15,000 in there watching this rubbish. In my opinion McCarthy has done a pretty good job with the money he has been given, however he is very stubborn in his tactics and will not drop certain players when they are clearly having a poor run of form. This has to be down to one person and that is our so called owner!!! Do us a favour and sell up, that will be the best gift all of us supporters want so we can try and at least save our club. We as the supporters are the foundation to this once family run club and without us you have nothing. I really do hope that supporters who claim they won't renew stick to there word otherwise i see us falling down the leagues as we struggle even more as nothing will be done by the big wigs.

On a positive not i will be £46.33 richer each month next season

I was thinking about writing to Mr Milne with the following suggestions:

a) A 20% discount if Mick McDinosaur is still in charge OR
b) A 10% increase if he's not!

Very, very happy to pay 10% more to get rid!! Any takers?

Taricco_Fan added 15:43 - Mar 17
While it's a small rise in the price of a season ticket, in principle there should be no increase at all. Attendances are falling, the quality of football on offer is mostly poor and there is a lack of ambition and investment from the owner. If a 5% discount can be offered it should be with no strings attached as a gesture to those whom have stuck with the club through the thick and (mostly) thin of 15 years of Championship football.

I welcome the move to get more young fans in the ground. This is absolutely the correct approach.

Matchday tickets are still grossly too expensive and need to fall. This is evident in the attendances which are down to the core season ticket holders plus a few thousand on top. As a non-season ticket holder myself, this is my biggest issue and means I cannot afford to attend as many matches as I would like.

In general the ticketing policy points to an ownership that is disconnected with the fans.

I am surprised the Club have announced this so early. Surely it would have been better to clarify the McCarthy position first. Irrespective of Season Ticket cost, the Club have failed to remove the surcharge for tickets bought on match day. A lot of people don't even now if they can go until the day of the match. No doubt the surcharge deters some people.

Watch the under 23s great value for money and some exceptional young talent coming through. You wont be disappointed..

woohoo added 16:01 - Mar 17
So for those of us in the 60+ group the increase will be about 15% next season.
Logically most of us will have been supporting Town for many years and are just the kind of supportor that you need to get you through the tough times.
The club is run by arrogant, ignorant fools.

Lord_Mac added 16:12 - Mar 17
Well firstly, I do agree that every effort should be made to encourage young supporters, over and above everything else.

But, that said....the 50-70 age group is also a very important one to Town, because these are the people who remember when the club was great and we delude ourselves that it still is.. Lose them and a big connection with the club's great past is severed and they often persuade their kids and grandkids to follow them as well. So its not just their season tickets, it's what their families spend as well. Our youngsters can easily be seduced by big TV clubs, so everything we can do to get them supporting their local club is very important.

Furthermore, it's wrong to introduce these changes retrospectively. Anyone who is already getting that concession should have it protected. I also think anyone within two or three years should get at least some concession as well, especially if they have been members for many years.

Even if it's true that not many clubs offer a concession for the over 60s, rather than the over 65s, that's kept me going when I wouldn't have done otherwise. With a 50% discount on the additional cost, that would be another £130, unless I downgrade my seat. or don't go, which is the biggest saving of all.

I shall be writing to the club when I receive my letter to make these points, and I urge all other supporters to do the same. This can be changed if enough of us voice our opinion.

Ipswich basically would like to say F... k the fans!!! We don't need you? Is that how I'm reading this correctly?
6

woohoo added 17:01 - Mar 17
The argument that they are 'aligning' the concession for 60+ with other clubs is an insult to our intelligence.
It will back-fire and cost them.
7

jjhbruno added 17:11 - Mar 17
Didn't think it was possible for the club to further distance itself from the fans. I clearly don't live in MEMMIM world. If you didn't think you were being taken for granted then you will now. What do we know anyway, we're too fickle to realise how privileged we are....
