Knudsen Could Miss Rest of Season
Wednesday, 5th Apr 2017 14:36

Left-back Jonas Knudsen could miss the final six games of the season due to the shoulder injury which kept him out of last night’s 3-0 home victory over Wigan Athletic.

"He's damaged his shoulder, it looks like he'll need an operation,” manager Mick McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk after the match.

"He could rest it for three or four weeks and come back, but we've got six games to play.

"The last thing I want is to bring him back in the last game and he gets injured and misses the start of pre-season."

Centre-half Steven Taylor could also miss the remainder of the campaign having suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury in the first half last night.

Meanwhile, McCarthy says he believes there’s “every chance” that the Blues will receive enquiries about keeper Bartosz Bialkowski the summer, a number of clubs having shown interest in the former Polish U21 international in January.

“I've already bigged him up as the best in the league,” he added. “We've got him under contract, but we all know if a huge offer comes in from a big club, then it's difficult to stop it if it's the right deal. Let's hope not."

It's all those really important long throws he does

Hate to see any Ipswich player injured but could be a blessing in disguise, I would rather see one of our youth products play week in week out and Kenlock is the better wing back let's be honest. Having said that, Knudsen gets a lot of stick but he's come on leaps and bounds since he came over from Denmark, there's no doubt he has passion for the club and is not a bad back up option for full back and potentially centre half. Always be a town hero for his two goals against the scum in one season!!

Don't wish injury on any of our players but this is only good news. Kenlock is already better and Knudsen doesn't offer the side anything!

This is fantastic news I don't want to see him in a town shirt ever again

Story didn't mention how he's come to damage his shoulder. I did mine falling off my bike over 2 years ago and although nowhere near as painful i can still feel it today.

Mick, PLEASE shut up about other clubs coming in for Bart! Yes, he's an excellent keeper, but should we take this as another indication that you won't be here next season?

He was probably asked about him, and Mick always likes to give honest answers.

It's a shame for Knudsen however it should get Kenlock some much needed game time, he's already better attacking-wise than Knudsen, the defensive side of the game will come with experience and now Mick has little choice but to play him...

you think the fans hate you now Mick? sell Bart and you will be in a new world of pain!

Quote McCarthy ""The last thing I want is to bring him back in the last game and he gets injured and misses the start of pre-season."

Surely that's no concern of yours you'll be history by then.

Personally think Knudesn is very average and often caught out of position and poor at closing down to prevent crosses into box and that Kenlock is a much better player who will only progress with more game time and experience .
As for Bart without him we would already be down this season , by far our player of the year again and to think our wonder manager thought Gerkin was a better keeper for so long

Great opportunity for young Myles.

Well, I have to say we have some great fans on here. A young lad who gives everything for our club on and off the pitch gets a bad injury and people say it's 'only good news' and 'fantastic news'.

It makes me wish some of our fans 'never wore the shirt again'!

Hopefully he will not be seen in our shirt again. TLA he is out of his depth ,piss poor defender poor distributor of the ball and head drops to easily,

A few people were pleased to see him in our shirt on two occasions this season tractorboybig. I have no problem with people preferring other players but saying that an injury to a committed young player is 'fantastic news' says more about the person saying it than the player. It's very poor form.

I'm sorry he is injured but he should no longer be 1st choice left back now that Kenlock has proved himself and made that position his own. It is a relief to not watch the wasted long balls from throw ins that always have to be done when Knudsen is in the team. They never come to anything and get headed away every time. Knudsen would be a good squad player though and has passion for the club.

I fear the worst regarding Bart.

Knudsen - shame for the lad. But I have always rated Kenlock higher.

Kenlock ten times better. No loss at all. A massive bonus.

Some of the negativity and personal insults to players on these pages is really beginning to p**s me off.

Players generally respond better to a positive attitude both on and off the pitch, some of you want to look up the word supporter to remind you of it's meaning.

Unfortunately for us a huge offer in marcus Evans eyes is anything over 10000 pounds

Another sentence in this story tells us that Taylor is injured again...or was he never not injured?

Don't wanna see any Town player injured but this is good news for the team. He is an awful fullback and along with the worst full back in the league (chambers) a big reason why we are in our current position. This means even Dino Muck now has to play Miles and that's brilliant for him and for the future of our club. More of a problem is Taylor. His organisation and leadership will be missed. I hope he can prove his fitness and if he does I would offer him either a 1 year or pay as you play deal for next season.
