Pitman and Bru Can Leave Town
Wednesday, 10th May 2017 10:52

TWTD understands that striker Brett Pitman and midfielder Kevin Bru have been told they can leave Town if they find themselves new clubs over the summer.

The duo have been unable to establish themselves as regulars this season with Bru making 16 starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring once, and Pitman netting four times in 14 starts and nine games from the bench. Both have a year remaining on their Town contracts.

Pitman, 29, joined the Blues in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer from AFC Bournemouth following their promotion to the Premier League.

The one-time Bristol City frontman was last season’s top scorer on 11 goals but was again in and out of the starting XI.

In total Jersey-born Pitman has made 42 starts and 28 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring 15 times.

Bru, 28, signed for Town in the summer of 2014 after a trial having left Bulgarian side Levski Sofia.

The Paris-born Mauritius international has made 59 starts and 35 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring four goals.

That Bru and Pitman are being allowed to move on comes as no surprise with Town boss Mick McCarthy expecting a summer of change at Portman Road, viewing the close season as “a real opportunity to freshen [the squad] up”.

The Blues manager is keen to bring in a number of new players with the full-time recruitment of loan midfielder Emyr Huws from Cardiff City also among his summer plans, while we understand McCarthy is also keen to sign striker Dominic Samuel, who has been on loan from Reading, on a permanent basis.

Yesterday, out-of-contract central defender Christophe Berra’s departure was confirmed with various reports this morning claiming the 32-year-old Scotland international’s return to his hometown club Hearts will be confirmed in the next few days.

The Blues are also again linked with Hearts’ Scotland international right-back Callum Paterson, who was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues as part of a swap deal with Berra in January.

However, with Town keen to keep hold of short-term signing Jordan Spence and with Josh Emmanuel also at the club, a move for another right-back seems unlikely at this stage.

If Pitman goes to another championship club and gets decent service he will score a stack of goals

Whilst I liked both players, I can't see them doing any better than they did here. so perhaps its a good time for them to move on.

Pitman is a striker he needs service to score goals, has he had that here? Given good service he could prosper. Bru could develop playing in a midfield that actually functions as a midfield not feeding on scraps from the punt it forward style favoured by our resident genius.

Pitman is a very good striker but no pace unfortunately. However, Mick said he didn't realise how good he was until we signed him and then this season doesnt get a look in. Strange when we were crying out for goals Moore gets in ahead of him.

Bru for me is lightweight and inconsistent. Not good enough to take us where we need to be. Good luck somewhere else, but I doubt you'll see him in the championship again.

Pitman will definitely find another Championship club, he has goals in him.

What about Skuse and Douglas?
News of Bart is atrocious! Best keeper we've had for a long time !

MM never set team up to support Pitman properly. Also mucked about with Sears so they never had chance to develop good understanding.
As for Bru, he did try and scored more goals than Skuglas. With more attacking and mobile midfield he may have performed better.
Good luck to both of them

If these two go and we keep Kieffer Moore and Luke Hyam what message does that send out to us fans. WE WANT TO PROGRESS, not stagnate or go backwards!

Another indication of the direction MM will be taking us next season.
Pitman has more skill and awareness than the likes of Samuel and Moore will ever have. I saw Pitman trudge off at the end of the Shef Wed game having been overlooked while those two proved totally ineffective and felt genuinely sorry for him.

MASSIVE plus for me, Kevin Bru is nowhere near good enough for a side aiming to get promoted to the Premier League. How many other championship sides would he get in? Very few.

He's probably the best at 8 a side / looks class in training but the hussle and bustle of the championship doesn't suit him. AMEN.

Amazing how in his search for a proven goal scorer mick overlooks the proven goal scorer , put balls into the box and pitman will score
