Town Shirts to Bear Local Charity's Name
Wednesday, 7th Jun 2017 16:45

Town’s first-team shirts will bear the name of a local charity for the first time next season.

The charity’s name or logo will be below the player’s number on the home and away shirts, an amendment to the rules regarding shirt sponsorship now permitting the use of that space.

The name will appear free of charge, while the charity will also receive other benefits from the link-up.

Supporters will able to buy the name or logo for their shirts for a nominal fee which will go to the charity.

“It’s something new for us and it’s an exciting concept,” MD Ian Milne told the club website.

“When we looked at the idea, the owner was keen for a local charity to be represented on the shirts rather than have any commercial aspect and the reaction we have had from possible charity partners has been very encouraging.

"Hopefully we will be able to make an announcement over the next week or two.”"

Nice to see a news story that most of the comments should be positive for too.

For a nominal fee would they provide me with the charity name on the front of the shirt and Marcus Evans Group on the back?

What a lovely idea. Something Marcus Evans won't make money from and local charities will.

A positive from the club at last.

Almost everything that ITFC does these days seems completely wide of the mark, but for all the justified criticism it is only right to praise them when they get it right.

This is a great idea and the sort of thing the ITFC we all loved would have done. Encouragingly it's either a) a good idea that the club has had because it genuinely cares about the local community or b) a gimmick to appease the fan base, which at least shows that the club want to build bridges.

No no no no no, while I admit its a good cause I cannot stand football kits with logo' s anywhere but on the front, above or below numbers or on shorts is just wrong, why not put it where the sponsor goes and get rid of the cretins name

Great for the local charity concerned but the sceptical side of me thinks they couldn't find a commercial sponsor and having Marcus Evans on both front and back of shirt would be too much even for Marcus 😈

Ok nice gesture, a small step in the right direction, but along with a new website these steps are really way short of repairing the damaged relationship between the club & the fans.

Local Charity should be emblazoned across the FRONT of the shirt, not the back Stick Marcus Evans on the back.

I'm the president of the European Vaccination And Nursing Society and the Order of Universal Tutelage. I'd like to see both organisations represented on the shirt, but maybe we could only fit the abbreviations in such a small space?

Would much prefer the charity name on the front. I'm sure they would sell A LOT more shirts this way too!
