Town Cut Matchday Ticket Prices
Tuesday, 13th Jun 2017 07:00

Town have announced a cut in matchday prices ahead of the 2017/18 campaign with the cheapest adult seat down to £25 from last season’s £27.50.

As previously reported, the club has also scrapped the surcharge for those paying on the gate on the day, which was £2.50 for adults and £1 for juniors last season.

The cost of senior citizens’ tickets is down to £18, while there is an under-23s matchday price for the first time, as is the case with season tickets for next season.

An under-23 ticket will cost £15 and an under-19 seat will be £8. Last season an under-20s ticket was priced at £18 and an under-16s seat £11.50.

A ticket for an under-12 supporter in the family area will cost £3, compared with £8.50 in 2016/17.

TWTD revealed in April that Town’s season ticket sales had dipped below 10,000 for the first time since the late 1990s - which equates to a reduction in income of around £1 million - down from last year’s final total of around 12,200 and a 15 per cent drop on the same point last summer.

Speaking to Life’s a Pitch in April, MD Ian Milne said the club were planning to introduce more flexible ticketing arrangements along the lines of the the Pick6 and Pick12 bundles launched last season and we understand Town will be releasing further details in due course.

Great to see the Town are finally beginning to listen to its fans. This is only a start, we want to see a better style of football at PR this season and a positive attitude towards cup games that may give the fans an exciting and serious cup run, please.

Spot on @Scuzzer & @TBT Complete joke of a business, ..with a multitude of indeed fairly suicidal looking accompanying business techniques.., masquerading as a super cozy & fan-respecting football club! lol

Additionally I would to to stress that I once again -- i.e. by again I mean following the hilarious "Fantastic News" Hysteria in Suffolk following the seldom mentioned *STILL* (exactly as was the case from May-December 2016) very curiously unwanted-by-ANYONE-else Mr. Spence deal, which in fact was not a reinforcement but a re-signing, albeit we thus yet again didn't beat anyone at this level to his signature indeed was a *SOMEWHAT* commendable (i.e. but not in the overboard & out of proportion like-we-just-landed-Daniel-Alves fashion displayed here!!!) as in it being a quite SOUND re-signing imho, based not merely on Spence's own *occasional* quite good displays here but more crucially on our inherent other piss-poor (Chambo) or sadly out-of-favor young (Emmanuel) *options* at RB!!! --- yes I once again don't get why several on TWTD here are saying "Well done Town" or "Well done Evans" especially & more seriously in this particular sliiiightly reduced matchday ticket prices instance

... cause unlike the re-signing of any good-to-average player really, in 'my book' you simply have no real GENUINE grounds to commend or congratulate someone, someone like say our very inherent & repeatedly fan-disrespecting or at the least fan-indifferent current dreaded ITFC Regime, on doing something that they blatantly obvious are doing INVOLUNTARILY, because this obvious welcome & positive appearing 'stunt' is imho very likely nothing more than an after-the-fact (as opposed to being part of a whole plethora of for quite long existing & possible good preemptive ITFC fan-deterring efforts incl. sacking the roughly by 66% percent of fans deeply UNWANTED manager!) piece of public relation 'Damage Control' ... and altogether a "Too Little Too Late" one at that.

Very disappointing to note that everyone ill now receive a reduction except the loyal season ticket holders who are left with a 5% increase and many, like myself and extra charge due to my age, as the60 year reduction no longer applies.
The saving on a season ticket is now nearly worthless.
I also doubt that this reduction will result in an upsurge in attendances if the boring football continues.

Any price drop should be supported and is most welcome.

But the fundamental point has been missed here. Even with a reduction we are still one of the most expensive championship teams to watch. Even that's not a problem, it's the lack of entertainment and low quality 'proper bloke' footballers that MM signs. Little ability. No flair. Negative tactics. It's still not worth the reduced prices sadly. I have seen more entertaining non league matches over the past two seasons. Until MM goes, I doubt crowds will improve - whatever the price. I'm already dreading another boring uninspiring season.

Welcome news, particularly as I am one of the 2000 that decided after 39 years not to renew my season ticket. Well done to all concerned. If I see further investment at expected championship levels I will renew, but until then it will be pay per game for me.

@theblueginger - you'll probably get away with it for the foreseeable. I bought student tickets for the whole of the 2014/15 season and never once got stopped (I was 26!). They may be more hot on it now but it's worth a shot, personally I think they should just be glad of ANY tickets sold regardless of price. I may give it a try myself if I can be bothered to go to any games and watch the same garbage as last season.

Should have been announced alongside a cash refund for the 10,000 loyal fans who have bought a season ticket, otherwise it's yet another smack in the face for the core-business supporters. Clueless!

Most businesses make their most loyal customers pay more and only give cheap prices to the "new" customer. However, the really good businesses reward their most loyal customers. Removing the senior discount was up there with the end of the triple lock and the dementia tax, look how well that went!

If Town want to reward, retain and grow their loyal customer base they should introduce some sort of discount based on season ticket longevity I.e. If you have been a season ticket holder for 10 years you get a 10% discount (say), 20 years gets you a 20% discount. Supporters would think very carefully about throwing away their loyalty rewards by not renewing because of a bad season or two.

It's a curse being a football fan (not just an ITFC fan) because it's with you for life but the club should recognise and reward that loyalty. Kicking Seniors in the nuts is not good customer relations and not good business. A loyalty scheme would get round the Senior issue and help to build season ticket loyalty.

I'm available at favourable day rates if the club wants some advice on building a successful customer base.

Not good enough I'm afraid. Ticket prices are still shamelessly high. When will the club stop ripping off its fans..??

At last a small victory for the fans who voted with their feet. ME has been forced into reducing match day tickets in a desperate effort to win back the casual fan.

However is a reduction in £2.50 going to make much difference? I doubt it very much! The only way to entice the wayward fan is on the pitch. A winning team with or without MM will bring back the dissolutioned fan. At least a signing for £1M is a step in the right direction.

A step in the right direction as some of you have already said. I think though given the current climate of apathy towards the club, £20 a ticket would be needed to see the attendances pick up to any reasonable extent. £19.50 a ticket in fact as psychologically that sounds like a bargain being just under £20. I bet if they brought the tickets down to that amount the £5.50 lost on each sale would be more than offset by the extra fans coming to take advantage of the cheaper ticket prices as well as the improved atmosphere (think Newcastle) inside the ground helping motivate the team on to more points than playing to row after row of empty seats!

At last the message has got through to the 'Invisible Man'!

However this is just tinkering at the edges, and will only have a marginal effect,as the signing of a million pound striker, who by the way Mark Lawrenson rates.

I am now waiting for the 'Big One'the departure of the 'Dino' ;as this is the only way that the season ticket holders l come pouring back.Increasing the revenue and atmosphere at my beloved Portman Rd!
