Town Reward Early Bird Season Ticket Holders
Friday, 23rd Jun 2017 14:11

Town are to reward season ticket holders who renewed their seats before the initial April 17th early bird deadline with £10 which can be spent on tickets or other goods from Planet Blue or ITFC Direct.

As previously reported, season tickets can still be purchased at the pre-deadline prices which the club has confirmed will remain the case until midnight on August 4th, the day before the 2017/18 season kicks off.

As a result, Town have made the decision to reward those who renewed prior to the deadline with the £10 added to their season ticket cards.

“I want to thank all the supporters who have committed - and will commit - to a season ticket for next season, but having extended the early bird prices, we feel it is right to reward those fans who purchased a season ticket before the deadline,” MD Ian Milne told the club site.

Town say there is no minimum spend, if £5 is paid out in one transaction, the remaining £5 will remain on the card for a future purchase.

In March, fans reacted angrily to the announcement of an increase of 1.5 per cent on the adult season ticket price as well as other unpopular moves and numbers dropped more than 2,000 to below 10,000 for the first time since the late 1990s, a reduction in income of around £1 million.

Earlier this month, the Blues announced a reduction in matchday ticket prices ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, Rotherham striker Danny Ward's long-expected £1.6 million move to Cardiff City has been confirmed.

The Blues made a bid for the 26-year-old in January and according to the Sheffield Star made a "substantial offer" during this window, however, even if that was the case it's unlikely Town continued to pursue their interest once Joe Garner's signing from Rangers, which was confirmed a week ago, had been lined up.

Lose £1m in sales, give £100k to those who did renew.

That's 110 Kieffer Moore's we now can't sign!

I wanted to see a team of Kieffer Moores...

extended early bird deadline!! obviously not selling well then... £10? that should just cover 2 early half time beers to fill the entertainment value on display.. a bit more than an ex preston north end striker is needed to pull back the masses.
heres a better idea, get rid of the pointless early bird thing and just make the season tkt prices cheaper.... oh hang on lets wait another few seasons before that is introduced, we dont want too much forward thinking from evans deluded mob.

£20 would of been better and then people could of got half price shirts. £10 doesn't sound much for showing loyalty during such testing times, however, granted it's still better than zip.

Surely the best incentive to all us disenchanted fans would be to sign some decent/ exciting players. I didnt renew my season ticket as i didnt want to be conned again by the club promising so much they fail to produce. Where is the ball creating midfieler, who is going to drive the club forward

I seriously don't get half the people on here!

Season tickets in the main represented excellent vlaue for money (If you don't consider the quality of football on offer, but that's for another post), disproportionately so versus matchday prices, until the very welcome recent changes. So for the club to give a tenner back to those who purchased before the original deadline is a nice gestutre I reckon. No, £10 isn't a huge amount of money, but on a £400 season ticket it does represent a 2.5% kickback, which more than trades back the 1.5% price increse. So you are better off than last year.

I have always maintained that ticket prices only gets discussed with such passion (and anger) when the team is not performing, and this has most certainly been the case in recent times.

For me personally, i welcome the move, welcome that season tickets are still the best value for money, and welcom the recent change in match day pricing. As a limited attendee due to family/work commitments, I believe this is a much more balanced strategy.

The cinics (and there are one or two), will point out that this should have been done ages ago blah blah blah - well unless messrs Milne and Evans have a Delorian with a flux capacitor, this simply would not be possible to change today.

So, I say a big hats off to the club for actually making some positive strides to repairing relations with the supporters, and even with a couple of early signings too, I can't help but feel a tinge of positivity in the atmosphere - but it is time to give the benefit of the doubt andsee where the next 10 months takes us - COYB

To quote a topical phrase - too little, too late. Any goodwill gesture is welcome, however the only gesture most ardent fans who've not renewed want is a resigned wave from platform 1 at Ipswich station from Mr McCarthy as he carries a brown box out of our club, to be seen no more.

Am I wrong? Still won't renew until he goes. Love Ipswich, loathe McCarthy.

I don't enjoy slating the club, but honestly this is what they have come up with over weeks of deliberation regarding the ST debacle? They really can't help themselves being p*ss poor at PR with their own fans. Still waiting for the huge changes come middle of June - two signings (Spence doesn't count he was already part of a poor squad which finished the season).......start off promising, with the Garner and Celina signings, now it has all gone quiet. I was hoping that big changes were going to be made on and off the pitch this summer, but alas no same old, same old it seems. We've been mugged off once more!!

£10!? Seriously? What an insult!

What I think is amazing is what Huddersfield have done. Their chairman offering £99 refund on season ticket holders who have held a season ticket in his tenure. He is worth £365M, and then I see ME being worth £765M! A difference of £400M! It just shows which chairman values the fans and which is purely about keeping the money for his own pocket! I understand that net worth isn'thow much is in his bank, but it still says a huge amount! EVANS OUT!!

True - they did not have to do this.

Neither did they have to insult the intelligence of the 60-65 yr olds with their pathetic excuse for the price hike for our STs

Poor judgement displayed, yet again.

I find all the negative comments interest and at times they baffle me, especially if we are all meant to be supporters of the club.
I live 125 miles away from Portman Road and have a season ticket through choice (my two daughters are not so fortunate). I feel the recent atmosphere at the ground is toxic and not helpful and does not constitute support, I though understand that if you pay you have a right to express and the football has been so poor it has been difficult to watch. Those that stay away have every right. I would also like to see the investment in the team a change of ownership and manager but I will also support the team and accept that those with the money to invest will run it as they please. However we have at last spent a decent transfer fee, kept the younger players (now play them), secured what appears to be a great loan signing, secured a right back and there is more positivity than a year ago. This is a token gesture and is welcomed as is the change to match day prices for the casual fan. Lets try and get together and SUPPORT our club, a better atmosphere (newcastle game) may help the players on the pitch, that may change the tactics with better results and that may attract new players. If I was an away player that visited Portman Road last year there is no way I would want to play week in week out in that atmosphere and I wonder if that in part explains why we are not chosen by other Championship players and not just money.
