Moore and Emmanuel Could Join Rotherham
Monday, 26th Jun 2017 10:07

Recently-relegated Rotherham United are understood to be keen on taking Town pair Kieffer Moore and Josh Emmanuel on loan.

Striker Moore, 24, joined the Blues in January on an 18-month deal from then-non-league Forest Green Rovers and made 11 sub appearances without scoring during the final months of the season.

The one-time Yeovil man looks some way off being a starter at Town and a spell at a club in League One where he would probably play more games may prove beneficial.

Similarly, academy product Emmanuel is not likely to feature in the Blues starting line-up at the start of the season with another right-back, Jordan Spence, having re-signed earlier in the summer and ought to benefit from a stint playing regularly elsewhere. The 19-year-old has made 19 starts and five sub appearances for the Town first team.

Earlier in the summer, the Blues targeted Rotherham striker Danny Ward, who subsequently joined Cardiff City in a £1.6 million move, with some reports suggesting Town players were offered to the South Yorkshire club as part of that potential deal.

However, it’s understood the loan interest in Moore and Emmanuel is currently ongoing.

The Town squad are back at Playford Road today for the start of pre-season training with manager Mick McCarthy speaking to the media at lunchtime.

Emmanuel out on loan? I thought we needed 2 players for each position, so Spence and Emmanuel at right-back. They can also cover wing-back, centre-back or winger if needed. Surely we need to keep both?

Moore will be 25 in August so he's hardly a youngster who needs a year at a lower level to develop. Maybe we are just looking for someone to take on some of his wages to reduce the losses on this signing.

More importantly than all this. Neil Warnock says he has accepted our offer for Emyr Huws :)

Sometimes management decisions make me want to bang my head against the wall! Emmanuel is obviously talented and should be our first choice right-back if we are serious about developing youth.

Both good decisions, assuming we can get Josh back if we need, as others have said. Hopefully this also means there will be another quality striker to come.

I would prefer Emmanuel to be our first choice right back but I get the feeling McCarthy doesn't quite trust him yet. In that case playing regularly on loan will hopefully benefit him but he must not be released as he is our future.
As for Moore, really unsure why we signed him

3 of the games Emmanuel played last season he got top ratings in 2 and Man Of The Match in the third what a waste to palm him off to Rotherham he always looked impressive so whats he done to upset Mick????

Think you only have to speak up and disagree with the Dino or even ask why not playing in first team,or out of position;ie Jonny Parr,Brett Pitman,Tommy Oar and more recently Kundai Benyu ?

Agree about Emmanuel. Moore has only made 11 sub appearances - not enough to write him off yet.
