Hibs Boss Confirms Town McGinn Bid
Saturday, 8th Jul 2017 00:46

Hibernian boss Neil Lennon has confirmed his club rebuffed a Town bid for midfielder John McGinn last month.

The Blues were reported to have offered around £1 million for the 22-year-old Scotland international.

“We had an offer from Ipswich and it was nowhere near the valuation we have of the player and that’s the end of it,” Lennon told Deadline News.

Since that bid the Blues have signed Emyr Huws and Tom Adeyemi but could still be looking to add to their central midfield options with former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe, who is a free agent following his release by Fulham, also on their radar.

I don't know anything about this lad, but the priorities should be replacing Berra and Murphy. We have sufficient midfielders.

This deal was dead as soon as we signed Adeyemi. I agree that we need a new striker but I'm not sure why so many are looking for a Murphy type striker. Having Murphy here was great because he scored goals (Obviously THAT side of him would be great to replace) but having the big man holding up the ball from the back and allowing us to start our plays in the opposition 1/3 means we will play long balls. We have brought in a striker who isn't the size of Murph and Celina, who likes to play on the ground. I'd be happy if we brought in someone to score the Sears type goals that we are lacking from him at the moment.

We certainly need some new signings! Defence looks weak with Berra departing. Midfield needs more goals and cover, whilst a new striker possibly two if Pitman does leave a must.
