Pompey Appear to Confirm Pitman Switch
Thursday, 13th Jul 2017 23:38

Blues striker Brett Pitman’s move to Portsmouth appears to have been prematurely confirmed by their iFollow video service.

While there has been no formal announcement that his move has been completed from either club’s Twitter or main official website, Pompey’s iFollow is advertising an interview with the 29-year-old.

“Brett Pitman signs for Pompey on three-year deal from Ipswich Town,” it reads.

“The first interview with new signing Brett Pitman, who arrives at Pompey on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Ipswich Town.”

This morning TWTD was first to reveal that Pitman was set to join the League One new boys.

Good luck to him. For whatever reason he never seemed quite right for Ipswich much like his time at Bristol. South coast club should suit him as he appears happier around that area.
Be interesting to see who we bring in now. I've been quite happy with the business conducted so far so with Garner filling Pitman's boots a No9 is top priority.

I think he'll score goals there, he's definitely capable of 20+ a season at that level. Shame it didn't work out but it's £500k a year off the wage bill that we can invest elsewhere. Moore, Best, Douglas, Coke and Pitman moving on is good business, we just need someone to take Bru off us now. Berra leaving was inevitable and as far as free transfers go he has to be regarded as one of our most successful. That's most of the deadwood gone in my opinion, I think we'll see 1 striker come in and cover for Spence at right back. I hope Evans shows real ambition with the striker acquisition.

Is it me or has he 'leaned up' doesn't look quite so chubby around the gills?
Whatever has been said, he was one of our players & I for one say 'thanks' & hope his move is successful.Nice guy.

All for this, off the wages and a fee of some kind too.

Plus side - natural finisher. Will guarantee any club outside the prem goals. Of that there is little doubt.

Negatives - not a very complete player. No pace to play the undoubted new system of higher pressing, not a great link up player and unsure he has the fitness to play 90 each week.

If we weren't changing system, I'd happily have kept Brett. However, he doesn't fit the bill and wish him well.

My abiding memory of him will be the 15/16 season away at Hillsborough very close to the end of the season. 1-1 and we had to win. Knudsen picked the complete wrong option instead of passing the ball to Brett and him knocking in to make it 2-1 and give us a good chance of making top 6. He absolutely lost the plot with Knudsen - fair play it was a total shocker from him too! Shows he cares about the game and refreshing to see.

Good luck at Pompey, have a feeling you'll be helping them go back up.
