"We'll Be Back" - Clapham
Friday, 10th May 2002 10:14

Jamie Clapham says that if Town go down they will bounce straight back up. The former Tottenham player says the club has been run well and will not get into the difficulties that other sides taking the drop have.

Clapham said: "We will never struggle financially as much as some clubs because we have a chairman who is Ipswich Town through and through and won't allow anything to happen to the club.

"You look at clubs like Norwich, who it has been reported are around £6m in debt, and you look through the team and you can't see where they are going to recoup that sort of money. They don't have a £6m player, whereas you look through the Ipswich team and we have a number of players worth millions."

The left-sided player admitted that there would have to be changes over the summer, but doesn't feel the club need to get rid of too many players.

However, he is still focussed on Saturday's game at Liverpool and escpae from the relegation zone: "We won at Liverpool last year when we were full of confidence, which makes things easier, but we can do it again."

"There is nothing we can do about what is happening in Sunderland. No doubt the fans will get the message across but the players won't be interested until after the game because unless we win it won't mean a thing."
