Town at Home to Crystal Palace in Carabao Cup Or Are They? Thursday, 10th Aug 2017 22:03 Town have drawn Premier League Crystal Palace at home in the second round of the Carabao Cup, at least as things stand. However, the tie may yet switch to Selhurst Park due to confusion during the draw. A third ball was drawn to indicate whether the first team out of the hat would be home or away. After Palace were drawn, a red ball denoting a home tie came out of the hat, but the game was announced as an away match before they were subsequently paired with Town. The teams last met in the Championship at Portman Road in April 2013 when the Blues won 3-0. Earlier that season the Eagles had beaten Town 5-0 at Selhurst Park. The sides have met once before in the League Cup back in 1996 when the Blues won 4-1 with Alex Mathie and Paul Mason both scoring twice. Carl Veart netted for the visitors. The game could see a return to Portman Road for ex-Blues defender Damien Delaney and former loanees Jonny Williams and Andros Townsend. One-time Town striker Connor Wickham is still recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained last season. The tie will be played in the week commencing Monday 21st August.
