QPR Say No to Town's Away Ticket Price Cap Proposal
Friday, 11th Aug 2017 16:42

QPR have confirmed they will not be taking part in the £25 reciprocal away ticket price cap initiative proposed by the Blues during the summer.

Rangers chief executive Lee Hoos told GetWestLondon: “The running costs of our stadium are substantially different than Ipswich and this price point simply doesn’t work.”

Town travel to Loftus Road on Saturday 9th September with the West Londoners in Suffolk on Boxing Day when their adult fans will be charged the standard prices for the upper tier of the Cobbold Stand - £30 and £35 - rather than the proposed £25.

Hull City, who visit QPR next weekend, are advertising adult seats in the School End Upper Tier at Loftus Road at £33 and £28.

Last month, Town announced that 12 clubs had agreed to the proposal at that stage with others considering it further.

Tomorrow’s opponents Barnsley and Birmingham City, who visited Portman Road for last week’s season opener, both agreed to the cap.

"Running costs"....of course

Nothing to do with the fact that we consistently sell our allocation at one of the worst grounds in the Championship.

Simple option is to match their prices for their fans to come to our ground. We've all got running costs, we don't however all have a huge FFP fine on the horizon.

Boxing Day costs must be enormous - double time etc. Clearly a £50 ticket for them

Another reason to dislike QPR, who used to be rather a likeable club.

Could it be because they are worried about the huge fine they could have to pay for breaches of FFP? That,s if the EFL have the balls to actually do something.

....... maybe they don't object to paying for Police cover on Match Days - unlike a certain Club we all know.

Harsh maybe - but worthy of consideration, before we criticise, may I suggest.

Greedy b*stards! It's no wonder so many QPR fans are fed up with the way the club is being run.

To be fair to QPR, they have a relatively small ground which largely sells out for most matches. They would gain a lot less than us from this initiative.

London clubs only pay for policing in the ground. Hammersmith borough get an allowance from MOPAC(The Mayor) to cover the fact they have four clubs in that borough including Fulham & Brentford so I wonder if they have taken up the scheme.

I suggest the posts that reflect the poor away numbers for QPR compared to us is more likely to be the reason they don't want to reciprocate.

COYB!

Can understand running costs in London are higher. That said, the price cap is a great idea. Just because they don't agree to it, wouldn't it be great if we stuck to it and charged QPR fans £25. I bet they would sell out their allocation. Then again, being Boxing Day they probably would anyway!

How much does it cost to run a shed?

Tit for tat is not the solution. It's about doing the right thing for football fans, whoever they support.

Paid £18 at the Valley in 2015. Another London club. Just saying.

Been to Loftus Road a couple of times. It's the most cramped all-seater stadium I've been to. Wouldn't pay over-the-odds to visit there again.

Charge them double.

Definitely a £40 levy for them. Their lame excuses are totally against the spirit of the reciprocal idea.

£40 for them on boxing day in that case. I'm not surprised a club like QPR would reject this.

Town should still offer their fans that make the journey a 25 quid ticket. Town fans should boycott the away fixture. How would they like that price point?

Why would we want to punish QPR's fans for the greedy actions of their owners? How about we don't do that. £25 please.
