Town Drop to Seventh
Wednesday, 13th Sep 2017 10:12

Town dropped to seventh in the Championship following last night’s matches.

The Blues weren’t in action as their scheduled game with Derby was postponed so the Rams could play Barnsley at Oakwell in the second round of the Carabao Cup, a tie which ended 3-2 to the Tykes. Town will now travel to Pride Park on Tuesday 28th November.

Elsewhere, victories in the Championship saw Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston, who defeated early season pacesetters Cardiff 3-0 at Deepdale, all climb above the Blues, who drop out of the top six for the first time this season.

The Blades, now third, won 1-0 away against Saturday’s visitors to Portman Road, Bolton Wanderers, who remain bottom of the division without a win.

Leeds now top the table after their 2-0 victory over Birmingham with the Bluebirds now second.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Kieffer Moore surprisingly didn’t add to his season’s six goals as his loan side Rotherham thrashed Walsall 5-1 at the New York Stadium in League One. Fellow Town loanee Josh Emmanuel again missed out having been sidelined by a toe injury.

Blues pair Adam McDonnell and George Fowler both played the full 90 minutes as their loan side Aldershot won 2-0 away at Ebbsfleet in the Vanarama National League, the Irish midfielder claiming an assist for the second goal.

Meanwhile, Town are said to be one of a number of clubs keeping tabs on 18-year-old West Brom striker Tyler Roberts, who as things stand will be out of contract next summer.

Sunderland, Brighton and the Blues are reported to be tracking the youngster, whose future at the Hawthorns could depend on his form during a loan spell at Walsall this season.

Wales U21 international Roberts has previously spent time on loan at Oxford and Shrewsbury.

Straight forward and easy game at weekend. Then it's tough.

Another 3 points is needed on Saturday to keep us in or very close to the top six. Will be very interesting to see what formation MM uses.
In a 4-3-3 would like to see:
Bart
Connolly Iorfa Spence Knudsen
Waghorn Adeyemi Ward
Garner Didz (c) Celina

Subs: Gerkin, Wolfenden, Downes Sears Rowe Skuse plus 1 cb

In a 3-5-2 which I think is more likely:
Bart
Connolly Spence Knudsen
Waghorn Ward Adeyemi Downes Celina
Garner Didz

Subs: Gerkin, Iorfa, Woolfenden, Skuse, Rowe, Sears, 1 other

Very keen to see Huws back. Suspect MM will stick with Skuse unfortunately in whatever combo we play. Both the above sides are more athletic than what we had last year and contain a much greater goal threat. Roll on Saturday.....

Forget top six folks- we need to focus on staying in the division until this idiot leaves

jas0999 , you should know by now, no game is easy or straight forward, especially when McCarthy is the manager, . But then I'm sure his pre match interview will dispel any such thoughts. He will ''big '' the opposition up and remind us of how good they have been [even if it goes back to Big Sams era.] then throw in some of our fitness woes for good measure, and make a point look like a good outcome. A bore draw coming up I suspect. HOPE IM WRONG , we certainly don't want to be losing any ground to strugglers .

First we were lucky our game was called off on Tuesday so lets be grateful for that.

Forgive me if I am wrong but wasnt Waggy bought as a STRIKER so why is he now being played in midfield?

I would put Didz in midfield to help supply the front two, along with Cellina.

If Garner does not get the service he will lose interest, rightLY so, like he did at QPR.

My reserves of goodwill for MM already low---could be out Sat night if we lose.

Just hope we don't set up to try and nick a point but sadly I think Muck will return to what he knows best.
