Huws Withdrawn From Wales Squad
Sunday, 5th Nov 2017 11:22

Blues midfielder Emyr Huws has been withdrawn from the Wales squad for their friendlies against France and Panama during the international break.

The 24-year-old is yet to play a first-team game for the Blues this season due to an achilles injury.

Speaking on Friday, when he was anticipating Huws still being involved with Wales, manager Mick McCarthy said the summer signing from Cardiff would play his second game for Town’s U23s on Monday and expected him to return to the senior squad for the Hull City match after the international break.

Wigan Athletic’s Lee Evans has replaced Huws in the Wales squad, which includes former Blues loanee Tom Lawrence, while Jonny Williams has also been withdrawn.

In his current state of fitness he shouldn't have been named in the squad in the first place.

Common sense prevails (finally).

Good. ITFC must come first with a player returning from injury.

I hope he's not been withdrawn due to another injury.

totally agree Kentish... the long and short of it is, if he is not ready for the first team, he is not ready for the Welsh team!

We have a habit of losing players, back from injury only to lose them again!

Hmm...hope his achilles hasn't flared up again. Mick was saying some game time would do him good!
